I was watching some games on tv and saw a person riding a horse riding around in circles alternating trotting and walking and other sorts. Really who voted this on.
Oh and chime in on what you have seen thus far |

Just because you don't understand the competition, there's no reason to diss it. Just the same, I'm sure people wonder why people race commuter bicycles (road or mtb racing).

Curling is a winter Olympic event, not summer. Although it does look strange and peculiar, there's a lot more fine motor skill and team work to it then one would think.

Curling...haha I wish I had a thank you button to THANK MYSELF for that submission. If I could, I would definitely replace "Curling" with the classic game of Horseshoes! A beer in the other hand would be mandatory!

Rythmic Gymnastics! It looks so silly, almost like something from Saturday Night Live! I could see Chris Farley(God rest his soul) or Will Farrel prancing around twirling a ribbon on the end of a stick! (no offense to any "Rythmic Gymnasts" on this site)

synchronized swimming. i'm pretty sure make-up is part of the prelims.
edit- if the ancient greeks came back and saw what passes for events these days, they'd never stop throwing up...although as soon as (1.) i learn to tread water and (2.) they have a men's division of synch. swimming, i'minittowinit. "let me win, but if i cannot win, please don't let me drown in the attempt." |

Yeah I agree about some of those obscure events... especially when there isn't going to be baseball or softball in the next couple Olympics (at least).
I do really like curling though. It's taking on a kind of supernatural awesomeness because it's so weird! ![]() |

I watched that for a good 20 mintues and couldn't figure it out. Do they still jump those suckers? Or in the kinder gentler world have we have resorted to that wierd trot around thing.

I prefer sports where there are no doubts someone won, I mean something measurable: score, distance, time or speed. Soccer, Water Polo, cycling, marathon, triathlon, javelin, judo, wrestling, there are no doubts who wins.
When it depends on the judges to decide, it is all depending on politics and personal opinions. Gymnastics, synchronized swimming, figure skating, even skate boarding we have to rely on someone else to tell us who wins or looses.

I have the UTMOST respect for synchronized swimmers. There are some events I would question in a heartbeat, but synchronized swimming is not one of those.. |
