Thank You moderators for keeping us safe and secure. You guys (and gals) are like the caped crusaders of the internet. Respect.
I think [some]people are just a little edgy and filled with angst, not to mention a little frustrated.... from Blah(g) closures. |

Just wanted to mention that this thread has NOT been locked, and although some posts have been (appropriately) edited, they've not been deleted and the editing was noted. In the past, this thread would have been long since locked/deleted/neutered. Thanks.

Oh Seattle,i lived a fence hop away from that pick(literally a hole in the fence from my yard) Randy. No joke! Its near 145 St and N.E 8th in the U-District.U-district being the UW Washington Huskies. We had the best vegetarian restaurant on the corner called the Black Cat Cafe.Plus the infamous Gas Works park. The park is off North lake way( statue shown is on the bike path to Gas Works park).Gas Works is the start of the World naked bike ride and Solstice Cyclist's.Stunning night views looking at downtown Seattle. It was going to be named Myrtle Edwards park, but another park on the Water front took that name( formerly Elliot bay park I think).Myrtle Edwards is now, or was host of many a hemp fest.Plus Sound Garden Park is there :which is a park full of wind Chimes.Im sure you have heard of the band Sound Garden? The song spoon Man by Sound Garden was inspired by a local street artist that played around Pikes place Market. His name is Art;and you guessed it,he played music with kitchen utensils. So my Seattle history lesson.Sorry, home town memories do that to you.

Clearly this thread has been a source of emotional responses for many.
I'll try to clear the air a little. 1 - Never was this thread intended to suggest that people should not post in the Pub. It serves it's purpose. My point was that this is a mtn bike site - posts about mtn bikes should be the primary focus. It's simply a suggestion that if one posts primarily in the Pub perhaps they should rethink why they're spending so much time on a mtn bike site. No one is telling anyone what they can and can't post as long as the posting guidelines are followed. 2 - The subject of off topic. The Pub is for "off topic" in that the subject matter of the threads is not related to mtb's. This is not a problem. The matter of off topic related to straying from the subject of a particular thread, regardless of the forum, that's a problem. I think most can agree that posters are given some leeway here. Let's just follow the spirit of the guidelines and everyone will be fine. Bottom line - stay on topic within reason. Those that habitually derail threads may feel picked on but that is their problem to deal with and they brought this on themselves. 3 - As STR has grown, it is becoming more difficult to moderate without people feeling censored or picked on. I'm not sure there is a solution to this. If you have not done so, PLEASE - Re-read the posting guidelines. Do your best to follow the intent and I think you'll enjoy your time here. If you are expecting a free-for-all where you can shit talk and be generally offensive to the majority you will likely feel handcuffed by the overbearing moderators. Trust me, it is not in any of our natures to censor people's thoughts but with STR membership in the thousands now, it's important to remember that not everyone will feel the same way as you and I about every subject. How we word our posts may convey different intent than what we think they will. I'm guilty of this often times too. Don't take this to mean controvery is to be avoided at all costs, just think about how your post may be interpreted before you hit submit. In closing, George has created something special in STR. I for one have met many great friends here. I believe with certainty that I'm not alone in this thought. While we may not always agree on the best course to continue, let's focus on the positive aspects and have a civil discussion when there are suggestions for improvement. Craig STR Moderator
