Default Dodgers not to be outdone/Manny Ramirez is a Dodger

ESPN is reporting he's with Torre and the Boys in Blue.

Ugghh!! Of all the places in MLB, he had to be dealt to the Padres' rival. I'm going to dislike Manny even more than I did when he was with Boston.

Not sure that's such a great idea. Too bad the Dodgers are not an AL team and could make him the DH. His glove leaves a lot to be desired. At least, as of late. Or just maybe, it's a brilliant move. Only time will tell...

You're right there's a silver lining to every cloud. Thanks for reminding me.

I'm not a Dodger fan, but I am an Angels fan. My dad used to take me to Angels games and watch Frank Tannana and Nolan Ryan. Cool.

ahhhhh man I am tearing up a bit. Don't worry kiddies we still have Big Pappy and Youkillis so I am not worried too much but it is going to be sad to see him go. Although he is now my fav NL league team. I am surprised that he went to the dodgers and I am not. I do think the only people that can deal with manny would be a torre or fanconia. I am surprised that the Dodgers shelled out the cash. Their were talks that Manny could be a Angel or a Cub no way can I see Soccia or Pennela dealing with Manny.

The Dead Sux are paying his salary for the rest of the year

Bet you a HTFU bracelet that the Sux don't make the playoffs.

Talk about dumping a guy off. Jason Bay is good and all but for Manny... The Sox are just wiping their hands clean of the mess. Now what are the Dodgers going to do? they were already rotating their outfielders and now they've got another?

Being a boston fan I'm a little sad to see Manny go. The fans and the team do need a little humbling so maybe this will do it. Sox won't make the playoffs unless it's over the Rays for the Wildcard - Yankees will jump right over both of them for the division. That's my bet on this one.

How desperate are the Dough-yers to sign that clown.

Dodger Blue my ass.

On the bright side, we'll get to watch Manny embarrass himself during interleague play.

The Dodgers aren't paying Manny anything....Bawston agreed to pick up the remaining $7mil he is owed for this year...so basically the Dodgers gave away LaRoach(who lost his job this year and wasn't part of the Dodger plans anymore) and a AA pitcher to get one of the best hitters in baseball....as much as his D sucks it isn't really that bad....(not a nightly thing...ESPN just makes everyone think it is).....

The Dodgers have a lot of outfielders but NOT a lot of outfielders playing good...Andruuuuu let me intrduce you to you perminate spot..it's called the BENCH...

I also think it is HILARIOUS that the ESPN radio guys are asking/saying the Dodgers ONLY made this move b/c of the Angels traded for Teixeira....what a JOKE....THAT NEVER entered Colletti/McCourts mind...they saw a virtually FREE Power hitter to help them win a division that seems NO TEAM wants to win...

At the end of the season Manny will walk to whoever wants to PAY out the arse for him...member he's a borASS client...but he won't be in Dodger Blue

free? i guess you didn't realize that the dodgers will have to shell out some bucks for an extra locker (XL) for his ego.

The Angels have nothing to do with it. The Dodgers want to win the NL, Jones has been terrible, and they've needed the offense since Furcal went out. This will give them the chance of a playoff run in a mediocre division.

A lot of Dodger fans may be surprised at Manny's fielding - his arm and glove skills are not awful. It gets overshadowed by his hair flopping around and his occasional bizarre behavior, but the skills are there. Drama aside, he's going to be a great 2-3 month addition.

Nomar was a good hitter, but does not have the stick that Manny has.Plus he was, like now, always on the disabled list. That's why he's been on so many different teams.A lot of teams thought he was overplaying his injuries or thought he was a malingerer.

That's almost a sure win on that. They won't have the 1,2,3 punch with out Manny. The Dead Sux may not make the wildcard spot either .Both the Yanks and the Twins are one game behind, although there's still two months left in the season, plenty of baseball left.I also don't think Big Papi is 100% yet.He didn't look too sharp in the Angel series which the Halo's swept in the baaahsten pony league field,(That place is way past it's time.Put it in a museum and build a real stadium!).

Gotta agree with you Shu.I also hate the ESPN bias. With ESPN it's all about tha Dead Sux or Yankees.Like there's no other teams but an east coast team.Anything ESPN says I usually toss in the trash. Go Angels- Lloyd

All good points. I think Mannys 'tude was too disruptive too keep around, even if it meant giving up the title. Sox games sell out regardless of whether or not they're winning, so I think they decided to cut thier losses.

As for Fenway, the place is a relic. Padres stadium makes it look like an Afgani soccer field, but I don't see them moving in the short term, too much nostalgia for the place.
