Default Work Report: Snake Encounter

Look at what I got to see at work today while collecting water samples from an overpass over a drain which outlets to a local lake.

This guy was HUUUUGE! Super thick and really long... Definitely different from the usual small/thin water snakes we see in the lake.

Bonus points to whoever can identify it for me (and earn me points at work, LOL)!

Unfortunately, I never got a chance to get a glimpse of it's tail.

I knew it wasn't a pit viper. Are these recently introduced to this area? I've never seen one, but looks cool.

Is Ricky Rockinthecasbah?
What do you do? I remember you were interested in that tortoise that someone found some time ago.

I've done a lot of jet skiing on many lakes and waterways where that are filled with poisonous watersnakes. I've never swam so fast in my life. The snakes scared the crap out of me far more than the alligators...and I like snakes! (when I'm on land)

Ricky just does animals.
I mean, works with them, adopts them.
I think he was looking into working at the O.C. Zoo or something?
Anyways, he knows his stuff about animals.

Highly unlikely. Most professionals would spot this simply by the fact that the trouser snake only has one eye. This snake appears to have two.

Maybe someone caught it and kept it as a pet then released it, or it got away and found water?

Why do they feed on Garters?
