Default Is your Starbucks closing?

http://www.starbucks.com/aboutus/USStoreClosureInfo.pdf

Do you care? I did. I go to them every day on my job. I guess the Malibu folks would NEVER let a Starbucks shut down on their watch!
They come in very handy on a long road trip too!
At least in Oregon, there are a ton of coffee joints and we had great coffee in a couple of places that were not Starbucks.

Starbucks is gods way of telling you, you don't know how to spend your money.

And I love coffee, just not at 3.50 a pop.

Meh. Their coffee sucks anyway.

Maybe instead of their little closing down for a few hours publicity stunt back in april to "re-train", they could have taken a day or two to taste other people's coffee and realize that theirs is burnt, acrid, and nasty. If it was 50 cents at a gas station i wouldn't expect much, but at $2 it shouldn't make me grimace and picker.

As far as I'm concerned, they're not closing enough of them. It's ridiculous when I see them across the street from one another. Like someone can't get their fat-arss up and walk a 100 yards. Do we really need that?
Aside from that, I can't stand the quality of their coffee and so called culture. I can't believe people are so drawn to it as much as they are. I would pick McDonald's french roast coffee over Starsucks on any given day.

Personally speaking, I'm all about Peet's Coffee but I don't go hang out sipping on latte's with my laptop in tow, pretending to be working. A pound every two weeks does me just fine, thank you.

Edit: A great example of a success story is Bean Town here in Sierra Madre. It's 4-5 shops north of a StarSucks but out of the two establishements, Starsucks seems to be the one who's hurting. The local community embraces small businesses and is very loyal to them with Bean Town being a poster child. It has a local cult following and their coffee isn't all that bad.

I was a HUGE Dietrich's fan also. They had one in Malibu and had the best coffee. It's my understanding that they sold out to Starbucks out of neccesity. They wanted to go on-line. I still drink their coffee at home and have about 8 bags of the French Roast and Huehue and Wiener Melange in my cupboard!
As for 3.50 a cup Mike! You must be drinking foo-foo drinks. A small is like a buck 60 and a refill is 50 cents. If you have a registered card, the refill is FREE!! If you take in your own mug, 10 cents is taken off!
They treat me pretty well. I'm not a Pete's fan and would take Coffee Bean over Pete's. The free refills and accessability keep me going back to Bigbucks..I mean Starbucks.

Support the local places instead...Base Camp Cafe, looney bean, high sierra roasting, that coffee place over by Ace Hardware - plenty of higher quality local places to fill the need...

I'm fortunate in that I work about 5 miles from the last remaining Diedrich storefront (on Barranca in Irvine), where i go about once a month to get my wife her Black Tiger Espresso and the French Roast for myself. And a Peet's just went in not far from my house in Fullerton. (coffee cheers)

I like a starbucks coffee every now and then. I'm not as much of a coffee snob as I am a beer snob so I don't really care concerning the flavor. I generally buy my coffee from the gas station on my way to work that has 10 different flavors and I can get a 24 oz for $1.25 it works welll for me.

Either way, if a there was a small town coffee shop next* to every star bucks that could make me a good iced coffee at a competetive price, I'd go there instead. But when it comes down to it, there isn't and I'm a beast of convience.

*by next to I mean some what close by and visable so i can find it.
