This is a family forum right?

Actually...sunsets, sunrises....being in the ocean (or surfing) painting....hiking, horses, kayaking...there's a ton to do outside of cycling...good thing I can ride my bike to most of those.

Until you get a running injury. Suck...

Surfing has been such an integral part of my life (I learned 30 years ago and became "serious" about it 14 years ago), I could never imagine giving it up. Where I live, it's still possible to score good waves with nobody else in the water. At these times, the serenity, solitude, and rhythm of the ocean -it's SO alive and powerful- are spiritually healing. The feeling of cranking off the bottom of an overhead wave, going staight up, and blasting a big snap off the lip, or of pulling-off a good tuberide... amazing. Whenever doing this in California isn't enough, the tropics (Indonesia, Hawaii, and Central America) are only a plane ride away.

MTBing is a similar experience for me. The rush of a good sustained climb or a long techy downhill can be a wonderful thing. Combine that with the majesty of high altitude mountains and it can approach the ecstatic.

I love to run to help relieve stress. Used to like surfing till we moved up to Morro Bay and had to contend with the freezing cold water and great white sharks... no thanks.

One of my favorite things to do is jump in our old restored VW bus and go for a drive up the coast.

Aside from riding solo (which happens to serve has a huge form of decompression), I enjoy mastering the art of bullying while picking on Endo Verendo, Burner, DavidB and FYM. That always manages to ground me and sets me straight. Hey now!

You are so damn ghey, Kelly with Mando not that far behind.

Last week was quite possibly the most stressful work week I had ever experienced. I was referred to as 'stupid' and nearly threatened by a lazy,bi-polar, fast food eating munching colleague. By Friday, I was mentally exhuasted, and thought my weekend would be toast. My weekend ended up being a great one. The things i usually do to help manage the stress include:

- ride with friends (keeping the rant to just a few minutes)
- hang out with friends (a good meal's always nice too)
- pilates classes (great workout and mental break)
- solo ride/hike/walk and thinking about how lucky I am

Like what Willie said - our thoughts can be 100% within our control. We just need to re-train our brain to take control. In my work situation now, I won't let some power hungry analyst with a miserable life ruin my day

Wii mario kart people, the best stress reliever is beating some fuzzy little foreigner (sp) online at rainbow road. I hate rainbow road but when you hit it just right woopie. Also I really like going around and letting the air out of 29ers while they sit on car racks. I also really enjoy skinny skiing and going to bull fights oin acid...

I must see pics! I had a '67 that I adored. Lowered with safari windows the whole deal. I loved my old air cooled VW's! When we sell our current house, I have the green light to buy an old car. I would LOVE another split window bus. That or an old '60's ish American convertible.
