I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5 and I think it's great. It's more bulky than the Canon offerings, but I think it's pictures are just as good.

But the main reason I suggest it is the 10x OPTICAL ZOOM. Most of the other cameras have 3x or 4x. With the 10x optical you can get in a lot closer on a lot of things. It takes great pictures and is as easy to use as any other camera.

Of course, I don't think you can go wrong with a Canon SD either, I just prefer the extra zoom and the Leica lens.

If you are willing to spend a few extra bucks, I would recommend the Olymus Stylus 1030 SW. It's a 10.1 megapixel. It is waterproof to 33ft, can withstand impact from almost 7ft and is crush proof to 220lbs. This camera is great for outdoor activities and takes very clean pics. It also has a bunch of shooting modes that actually work quite well.

I bought mine from Beachcamera.com with a 2 gib card , $358 to my door.

I have a Lumix DMC FX07

Best feature is the wide angle. Most digi's have a 35mm equivalent, but the Lumix is 28mm. Really makes a difference on open scenery and tight spots!

Enjoy!

I have a Canon SD750 and I highly recommend it. Excellent value for the price. Quick start ups and shut downs, multiple shooting settings to choose from makes snapping pics on the fly a breeze.

the photo were taken with the SD750 using the "flora" mode
