For awhile, I was fishing a few times each Summer... mostly overnighters for tuna. I'd be interested, but I only have deep-sea rigs (8lb, 15lb, 30lb) -all bait casting. What kind of fishing are you thinking of?

I used to fish every weekend for 2 years straight when I was younger... After that it was on and off. Still got my Ugly stick! haha that has to be the best buy fishing rod and reel ever. Also have a few Diawa rods somewhere.
I say we set up a fishing/riding trip where you can't bring actual food and have to fish for your own. ![]()

I was thinking a day up at Jenks lake would be fun. A day of trout fishing, Pot luck style BBQ, cook them if we get them, having a back up of coarse, this time of year I am usually out at least once a week. Just got back a bit ago, got me 4 poundish trout, couple under, couple over.
Anyways, wanted to see how many were interested in something like this |

I'm seriously considering taking up spear fishing since I work at the beach. I see all kinds of fish while I'm out snorkeling. Sure it looks easy.

I work for State Parks in the San Diego Coast District. SD Coast district covers from Carlsbad (Tamarack State Beach) all the way down to Torrey Pines. The most fish I've seen is in the rocks off Seaside just before you get to Solana Beach.
There are also kelp beds off the same beach that I see people swim or paddle out to all the time with spears and rods. I've also seen fish off Torrey Pines where the lagoon mouth is. Mostly Surf Perch, but guys (Lifeguards) have caught Flounder and Seabass.
