I love fishing but I refuse to clean it, so if someone cooks I'll catch it!

It has a rubber sling on the "dull" end that you put your hand through and grab the pole. Then you retract the pole by pulling it toward you, stretching the "sling" until your hand is now near the tip. You hold it in that position until ready to fire, and then release it, spearing the fish.

I've never been, but it's the simplest and cheapest way to get into spear fishing.

So I had my first try at using the pole spear out in La Jolla this weekend. Only problem was all that we could see were Garibaldi, my buddy did catch some kind of bass but he lost it coming back through the surf (4+ ft. with all those damn rocks everywhere made it hard to keep balance).

Grew up fishing. I do both salt & fresh. My first love is big tuna, but it gets really expensive. I have over 100 rod/reel combinations. I haven't been fishing two times this year. Kind of funny I used to fish every week either during the weekend or after/before work. Since I took up mtb'ing the fishing just kind of died off. My boys are happy that I quit as they got tired of getting woke up every Saturday.

On & off. Geared up for fresh water and trout mostly. Been taking my 5 y/o out lately, teaching him how things work. This past weekend we worked on "How not to fall into the lake, or why dad says don't stand so close to the edge!" over at Laguna Lake in Fullerton. He Uumm, didn't quite pass that test the first time. I think he's got it now though. He did manage to catch a rather small sunfish on a bare hook. Accidental swim aside, I can't top that.

Anyway, I have enough gear to put a rod in the hands of two or three other people, if necessary. Depending on schedules, I'm up for it.

Family trip to Ireland included fishing in a big pond that was loaded full of giant pike (pictured). I used to fish a lot for trout and bass in New Hampshire. I don't fish at all now that I'm in LA and good fishing is so far away. But I always try and make time for it on vacations.

Nice catch, but you may as well sell your gear now.

You are officially ruined

Maybe a mesh bag would make it easier to hang onto?

Lightbulb Makes me wanna get my boat wet

Great pics, I have not gone in a while but the best ever was a little stream running through the park in independence. Favorite spots are Edison/Crowley Lakes, Sabrina is incredible too. Might be too late in the season to hit the June lakes loop though. Old pics I know but still a great fresh boat.
