I'm a FUN-GI!
|
I'm sure some of you have seen this. For those that haven't, it's a treat!
Take one rich street racer. Add a Ford GT. Subtract supercharger. Add 2 turbochargers. Dyno tune to 1012whp and 898wtq, and annihilate any street bike 1000cc+ like they are in reverse. It's a recipe for FUN! ![]() ...he finally lost to a Turbo Hayabusa, and is working on a new engine for the GT. ![]()

Hope you brought a leash to walk that crank!
![]() Those tube-framed RWD alcohol "Hondas" don't count at all. But how about a Hyundai making only 300hp and on street tires running 10's? Oh, well, each engine makes about 300 so I guess technically it's more like 600+. ![]()

Will work for Trails

Yeah, some of you might know but I used to ride a first gen DSM before I got sick of taking trips to the junkyard. However when I would be out there some Honda fan would always start talking.
As my colleague above stated you cannot make a car designed to be economical and efficient into a street able race car, no matter how big the exhaust tip. I think it was Jesus who mentioned boost being a replacement for a larger motor but I think that half right. if the car was designed from the ground up for performance, how fast you want to go would only be limited by your budget. Also you can forget 30mpg with the low gearing (4.44) it takes to get the quickness you will not crack 20. But again I digress before ranting further; VTEC is designed to give good top end with good MPG in the "normal" power band. This means to get any juice you gotta wind the piss out of it, power does not peak until seven or sometimes eight k. Even with the stock tranny fortified with say a Quaife LSD it would seem foolish to pin it between stoplights not to mention extracting that kind of power band daily will lead to great relationships with the parts counter. Honda motors are designed for gas mileage and reliability, not torque or tunability thats why on the street you will not see them with more than two or three hundred to the wheels. The DSM shown on the other hand could be cobbled together for about ten grand and run with the Ford GT that started this thread. I think that is the most impressive testament to the thought that went into this design, not to mention the durabilty to still see them around and running. By no means is it the best car nor would it dominate on the Nurburgring but around on the street I cant think of a better weapon for scoring pinks. Now that my flame is out kids I am going to hose off the dirt I am covered with from a quick lap around Whiting, and yes racers it's sandy and a little santized. |
