For any bike-riding 2-D fighter fanboys/girls, Capcom or Tatsunoko fans out there, this one’s for you!

Overshadowed by the announcement of Capcom’s Street Fighter 4 (check out the original awesome, stylized trailer here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=uqdrmyDAjv8), many ppl don’t know about the crazy, over-the-top Tatsunoko vs. Capcom game coming out in Japan soon (although my guess is it will probably not get a Stateside release).

Tatsunoko: you may not know them by name, but they’re the anime house that brought America Speed Racer and Battle for the Planets/G-Force in the 60s and 70s and later Robotech/Macross in the 80s.

Capcom: Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Megaman, Okami. ‘Nuff said!

The initially announced characters from Tatsunoko were Ken from G-Force and Casshan from Neo-Human Casshern; from the Capcom side, Ryu and Chun Li (my girl!) from Street Fighter. Many more characters have been announced since (see the trailer below).

This is a low quality trailer along with gameplay footage, but you get the picture. If you watch until the end, you’ll see my girl kick butt and utter her famous “Yat-ta!”

The images of this thread brought back a few memories.

Back in High School, I used to play Street Fighter all the time.

The first image that popped into my head:
The row of quarters left on the machine (by people who were waiting to challenge me)!

Smack talking at its finest....

Those old Anime characters brings back some good memories as a kid in Japan. I remember seeing them over here in the states thinking how they could BUTCHER the translations sooooo bad, especially when I knew what they were supposed to be saying..... Oh well, chalk it up to "lost in translation".

Battle of the Planets rock!! A few years back I bought the dvd which has the original Japanese Gatchaman versions and Zoltar was a hermaphrodite!!
