I have a neighbor, who's got a brother, who's got a co-worker, who's got a cousin, who's got a friend who knows someone in a trade tech school, who's about to graduate but is one-armed and legally blind in both eyes but knows what he's doing in the dark and with only one arm. I can hook you up, for sure. Just let me know...

if its your house unit there are a few simple checks you can do before being bent over with a service call bill....replace the fuses in the box above the a/c unit outside...check for power, usually 220v, at the unit but dont kill yourself. if its for your car....this wont help

If its for your car just go buy two 16oz cans of freon (one that comes with oil, dye,and a way to add freon) and see what happens. You can jump the low pressure switch and if the compressor works you are low on freon and have a leak. That is the lamest term answer.
I just Charged manny-mannys truck for 35$ and it works fine.Probably has a slow leak, but may get him through the summer.

No, No sealant, just dye and oil.Sealant is like the radiator stop leak you can buy. They should call it radiator stop flow.

If it is icing up on the outside, you might be icing up on the inside because of moisture in the system.
Sounds like its for a house. If it's for a vehicle, it's another can of worms. Mechanical problems on AC systems are easy. They're usually bad orings or a bad schraeder valve. Electrical problems on an AC system on the other hand are a PITA. Have a FSM readily available and know how to read electrical schematics that are straight retarded. You can tell that Mechanical Engineers drew the schematics for FSM's because they make no sense at all. You can have 3-4 switches just on the feed to the AC Relay. |
