I go either body womping or snokeling a couple evenings a week below my house in Crescent Bay, Laguna Beach. We swim out to sea lion rock, do a loop and come back in 1-2 hours in the water.

Hmm, I'm not quite sure. My roommate is huge into scuba and she tells me there are some very good places to visit in So Cal. You might want to give a local shop a call to see where they recommend. My roommie swears by Laguna Sea Sports; they be good people and she's been a loyal customer for the better part of a decade. (949) 494-6965. Tell them Catie Graver sent you.

Nope got warm again over the weekend today it is 64. To get current water temp... http://www.lagunaseasports.com/condi...conditions.asp

And yes Laguna has great snorkeling, just don't expect the visibility to be great very often.

Crystal Cove. You probably need a wetsuit right now unless you have a high tolerance for cool water (mid to low 60's). Bring a buddy, buy some cheap-o fins and a mask/snorkel set at Wal-Mart and go have fun.

I go womping several times a week. The surf's been great.

First thing I thought of is ride a loop at El Moro, finish across PCH, at Reef Point, with some good snorkeling. The cool water temps will feel good after a hot ride.

i trunked it for a good 2.5 hours in laguna last weekend, the water is just fine.

like the others said, laguna beach, corona del mar have good snorkeling spots. i always pack my mask and snorkel when i head down there to bodyboard, when the waves suck, the snorkel comes out!

Anywhere you pop in the water between Crystal cove and Dana Point will yield top notch exploration. Mind the rocks and tides and you will not be disappointed I am partial to Shaw's Cove but there are dozens of secluded reefs in the area.

La Jolla. Little leopard sharks. Garri's. I snorkeled out to the cave and back, good times. Double rash guard and trunks no need for wetsuit.

I'm always on the lookout for new hobbies. But not being up on all the latest and greatest I had to look up "womping" in the urban dictionary:

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=womping

Can someone please clarify which one it is?

If its #1 then
If its #2 then -->
If its #3 then
If its #4 then

Sorry couldn't pass up the chance to use some new smilies

And one more for urban dictionary

Aha... LAST weekend, you said! Last Saturday (6/28 the water here was 71-72... by Monday it had dropped to about 58. But it has gone up again... to a toasty 62-64.
I surf anywhere from 1-4 times a week, and always wear a wetsuit (either 3/2mm or 4/3mm) if it's under 70. If you're doing any serious snorkeling, use a wetsuit. Once you hit the thermocline (anywhere from 2-10ft. below the surface), the temp drops around 10 degrees.

There are dozens of prime snorkeling spots here in Laguna... PV and La Jolla are good too. This week should be good visability too, since the swell is disappearing.

Yep there where ocean water skiers coming thru Laguna noonish today. Glassy flat today.

I will use a wet suit when friends come to town and they just have to get in the water. That said, I hate wetsuits, I stay out of the water when it is below 62 degrees.
