This law will save a lot of lives and money. I'm curious where else you'd prefer to live given that the US has "gone to hell in a handbasket?" |

No but it was a bit difficult keeping the "BEER" 'n bong from tipping over when we raced along Mulholland during our high school days, especially with one hand on the wheel and one shifting. ![]()

I'm smelling what your steppin in, there are alot of things people do while driving that just scare the hell out of me. I like the cell phone law, but at the same time, it needs to actually cover anything that you mentioned, IE Nails, Shaving, Reading, eating ETC. Here in Yucaipa, the Popo have been giving wreckless driving tickets for years for such activities, including talking on the cell phone while driving, so for us, its not a big deal. Its not just driving with one hand, its also the fact that your hand is holding the phone, and if something happens, how many people wont let go of the phone to control the car, due to being afraid of hurting there phone. The worst part abot this law I see, is how many times have we seen the Local sherrif doing the same damn thing!!!!! I dont mind needing to have a headset while I am driving, I am already someone who used one for safety reasons, but at the same time, If I got a call while driving, I tell the person to hold on, while I pull over to the side of the road. This is how I look at these so called safety laws, Seatbelt law for instance, I think thats BS, that should be a personal responsibility. People driving while doing makeup, reading, talking on the celly, texting ETC. That puts other people in danger. P.S. Just to be clear, the law does not limit to "Bluetooth" You can use wired headsets as well. I got the bodyglove earglove. Costs ten bucks, beter sound than any BT I have ever used

1)This is the most brilliant move in the world by cell phone companies. Now they've done away with the 1 tell-tale sign someone is on the phone. Now you won't know if they are on their bluetooth, or talking to themselves, or singing to the radio. You just know they are an idiot.
2) It is the distraction of talking on the cell phone that is the real issue. The person on the other end cannot see the road and expecting instant feedback. With the poor quality of phones, any pause calls for "Are you there?". Talking to passengers, on the other hand, is different because they are aware of the surroundings and know when to shut up (mother in laws excluded). Everyone knows that driving with 1 hand isn't the issue or they'd ban manual transmissions. 3) The under 18 law about no texting is equally retarded because they made it a secondary offense. The cop can't pull the kid over without a different reason. So, as long as the kid is not breaking another law, the cop can't pull him over for texting. |

I was reading all the cops will be looking for is a cell phone in your hand. By default that would include texting. Regarding all the other devices they may not be specifically banned by law, but if you cause a crash that seriously injures or kills someone you can be there will be serious consequences to you for your irresponsibility. |

My stepmom and dad are noth police officers. They cant pull anyone over just for having it in their hand. Even with bluetooth, most of them make you flip the phone open to answer or make a call, so you would have to hold it. ![]()

But most pickups are automatic. It leaves an extra hand to fiddle a banjo or access a gun rack.
