Default olympic trials for swimming- old friends are doing well!

an old friend of mine, Jason Lezak, just broke his own 100 freestyle American Record. so cool. even though he's 2nd seat overall, and doesnt "own" the AR for now, he'll likely get it tomorrow in the semis, which will get him in World Record range.

oh, and another old friend, Aaron Piersol, is doing well only a new world record in the 100 backstroke yesterday. . I can't wait to see his 200 back, which is what he's better at.

My son & I have been watching all of the TV coverage we can. As a beginning swimmer, he's just eating up how well they swim and execute their turns.

Aquatics related - one of my daughter's coaches, Natalie Golda, was just selected to the USA Womens Water Polo team for the second time.

It's kinda cool knowing people in the news (besides Dino...)

very cool! i've had the pleasure of knowing quite a few people on the mens olympic polo teams, including the current owner of our team.

I also know one person from one of the past women's teams as well- she's now kicking all a$$ as a professional triathlete.

You must mean Julie Ertel (Swail). I went to the same High School she did, though she was a Senior while I was a lowly Freshman. I remember her as the only girls on the boy's polo team since there wasn't a girl's team. Really odd that we both wound up at UCSD and racing tri's. Freaky.

Jason not only retook his American Record last night, but he's 8 100ths off the world record.

did you miss the point where these people are locals doing extremely well?

also, did you miss the point that I'm stoked for these people as they're my friends and have been for a long time?

or were you being sarcastic and forgot to include a smiley

Yep!!

Surface Drag Testing

Speedo used space-age technology research and testing in its efforts to design the fastest swimsuit ever created by consulting the National Aeronautics and Space Administration - better known as NASA.

NASA has some of the most accurate wind tunnels in the world, which it uses to test the surface friction of materials - such as that acting on aircraft or a spacecraft re-entering the earth’s atmosphere at immense speed.

Speedo tested the surface drag of more than 60 types of fabric (current and developed) to see which offered the best performance in terms of ultra fast speed through lower skin friction drag.

What high school did you go to? I distinctly remember a Julie and Jana Swail where I went to school. Both swimmers too.....

Sorry mate, my sarcasm can be off putting. I am stoked for you and your friends it's just that I take a dim view of most things on the tele. Porn much like sports are much less gratifying for spectators than participants, in my narrow mind anyway.

But I could use some lessons/tips if you ever drop by my pool.

If you're not on a far-away ride on the 4th, the USA Women's Water Polo team is playing at the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training base and they're having a fireworks display that night.

http://usawaterpolo.org/index.php?cu...08_WSNTAUSJuly

They're playing the Aussies

And yes, I'm waiting for my cookie.....
