You got that right, Norton is a resource hog. I been working on computer since I was 12, (im 24 now) and find that every norton product has failed me. I recommend everyone to uninstall norton ASAP.

Another AVG user here, works well and stays out of the way.

MAC is an acronym for Makeup Art Cosmetics, which has nothing to do with computers. I think you mean Mac.

MAC is also an acronym for Media Access Control. All computers that can access a network have at least one MAC address. But yes, a MAC is not a Mac.

They're a little sloppy in the way of sucking resources but other then that, not bad. Yes, corp editions work best but not everyone has access to them and can't get them unless they buy multiple licenses or has a connection to a network to push from. AVG is great and pretty seamless but like anything else that's free, there's always a catch. With AVG (and NOD32), if you use Outlook to communicate with, it adds an annoying signature at the bottom of every email sent out. It's their way of self-promoting. If being used for business, comes across as tacky and very mom and pop'ish. Personally, I don't use anything except for some common sense and logic. Clean for a long time!

BTW, lot of updates upon completion require a reboot. At the risk of sounding sarcastic, you should save your work more frequently. Losing data is no one's fault but yours.

Remove NOD32 email sig from incoming email LINK
Never was on outgoing email. (It only looks that way when you read your own message from an elist - which is really incoming email)

Now that the Evil Norton empire has expired on the PC, It has been uninstalled.
This in itself gave me a warm fuzzy feeling...

After looking at these posts, and talking to a family member that does something or other on teh
WEB for a living, I have settled on AVAST.
Free, and so far seems to work great.

I'll let you know if problems arise...

Hi, my name is drew, and i'm no longer a Norton addict...
step 1) admit you are powerless to reduce the resource hogginess of Norton
step2) allow yourself to uninstall Norton
step3) admit to yourself adn another how dissatisfied you were with Norton
4) never have to call Norton call help center ever again.

And I'm sure the are a total of 12, I'm jsut too lazy to think 'em up,
but you get the idea...

I am free of the addiction called NORTON AV!
