I found the Plantronics online (eBay) for $64 shipped....it works good

Not saying you're incorrect, just that I haven't seen anything official saying you can't hold the phone in your hand. Just trying to be factually correct.
after dialing you can not hold it next to your mouth or ear...you CAN however set it on the center console or dash or lap....

Which is the STUPID part of the law....texting is OK WTF??????

What sucks is that when your not on the phone your ear is plugged and the radio sounds bad. I'm lucky. My wife is in product management with a large hearing aid manufacturer and they make a tiny hearing aid that is a open fit and also blue tooth compatible. Problem solved!

My problem is driving with a softtop convertible. I haven't found a headset that fits well enough into my ear for me to hear clearly and the person on the other end doesn't hear all the road noise as I'm driving.

Jawbone. Our company just bought them for everyone with a bluetooth phone. Works well.

But please people, don't walk around with your headset in your ear. No, it doesn't make you look like a cool guy. It looks retarded when you are not on the phone.

I'm SO retro....... being 50 years old, I remember the days LONG ago when people would get into a car and drive somewhere. In solitude, or perhaps their favorite tunes on the radio or tape. Or with passengers, and have a . . . get this.... real live conversation!!! Whoa..... I don't think there is any tape or film of this going on the T.V. or movies. If so, it would be in black & white.

Now it's almost a given that when the car starts, the send button gets pushed on the cell phone.

I don't know if people were practicing for tomorrow or something but I saw at least 20+ people walking around the office today with them attached to their ear!!! It was so distracting to try to carry a conversation with one of them without laughing out loud at him... LOL

Phone Supplements (714) 632-3838 in Anaheim has a ruggedized Plantronics Bluetooth that is good for MTB. I have one and I like it.

We just got one tonight for my wife. I didn't think she sounded all that great but it's way to early to tell. I'll post back after we've had a chance to test it proper. I will say one thing, it's surprisingly comfortable.

well said...please let me see a show of hands of how many STR folks are a Chief of Surgery where you can actually justify the need to be available at any time? I didnt think so...none of you toolz, self included, needs to be on the phone for any real reason. There is nothing you do that warrants you being on the phone while driving (booty calls exempt of course), and if you think what you do is that important you are more delusional than i thought

24/7 is a part of my job description. However lame, I agreed to it to a certain extent and there it is.

Basically from speaking with law enforcement agencies throughout CA for the last few months while there for work most have said dialing is ok but holding it to you head or even just holding while using hands free headset or speaker phone will get you pulled over. I have a feeling that holding the mic of a hands free may also get you pulled over. My favorite is the people with wired head sets that have to hold the mic up to their mouth.

So how the heck do we dial these dang things? I seem to be able to talk and drive. But trying to see and hit those little buttons is what I have trouble with.

I'm really starting to hate Prius's and cell phones. lol
