It's like losing a member of your family. It's very painful. So sorry for your loss.

I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. Soon I will have to say goodbye to my best buddy and this further strengthens my resolve to enjoy to the fullest the remaining days I have with him.

What is so abundantly clear is that you loved DD and we know as well as you do that you took care of him to the very best of your ability.
Perhaps the only way to take the sorrow out of death is to take the love out of life. In my opinion, that would be the greater tragedy. The human heart, in all truth, was designed to love. Love is the greatest of all emotions and I think the emotion we should strive to perfect in ourselves. When that love is torn from us for whatever reason, sorrow and grief follows. That's a given. Time will lessen the process and will prepare your heart to love another pet just as much as you love DiggerDog. That's a given too. You will have another pet my friend and that pet will not replace him but your heart will enlarge and make a place for your new pet. This too is a given. To grieve is healthy because it helps one prepare for moving on to the next step in one's life. My heart is with you at this difficult time.

Thanks for the replies, it helps.
Funny thing about timing, I got diggerdog when I was living in Orange, we used to hike the Oaks couple times a week, we'd always see Sherry and Tim with the Switchback crowd, etc.... Anyhow, Bobcat was one of our staple trails. I'm planning on burying diggers ashes on bobcat after the trail work day re-opening one of our favorite trails on October 4. It just seems fitting that that is where digger dog should spend the rest of his days. |

My heart goes out to you.....The older you get the more times you get to experience outliving your pets. I have had two dogs so far from birth to death and it's as though a piece of you goes with them. However, I focus on the best times and save room in my heart for new loves.......RIP Digger Dog!!!!
