It does sound interesting but how's the bike industry from a longevity stand point? I would love a career change but 10 years in the county is a hard thing to walk away from for a job that may disappear in 6 months due to downsizing/going out of business/outsourcing! Man it is tempting though....big time! especially when purchasing is an intrest of mine and something I've been involved in with the county. I'm such a chicken.

Dood if you work for the county then even considering a job with a bike company is IMO not a very wise move. Its not even wise for you to even think it. Thats like saying OK I am going to give up great benifits, decent pay, decent pention plan, lots of time off to work for a company that may or may not be around in the next 5 years . Oh wait I good a great deal on my EVO or XCL.
