good for you...
my job is not lousy, just FAR too demanding for little ol lazy me. damn emails and phone calls around the clock (literally)...however, i may be an idiot but i am smart enough to know that the grass is not always greener, have a great boss, work with brilliant people from whom i learn daily, and i keep a bike in my office to ride at lunch when i can; what else could i want? sure i have too big a mortgage (dont we all), drive a POS car with a broken A/C, have a wardrobe such that i like like the white trash on my team (seriously), but its all good

I aim to misbehave

I would bet that everyone reaches a point in their lives where things seem overwhelming. It sounds like other issues in your life, and the fact that the current projects being in the "crunch phase", are magnifying the troubles with your job. As others have said, try to count your blessings while working toward either finding a better working situation and/or resolving the other issues that are going on. Since the economy isn't in the best of shape right now, you might have to find a way to tough it out where you are now until things improve. We just laid 750 people off where I work so things could be worse.
I wish you and your mother the best of luck with her fight with her cancer. More information will definitely help in dealing with and understanding the ups and downs of treatment. My mother had breast cancer 5 years ago and my father is has been undergoing treatment for some form of leukemia/lymphoma so I can empathize with what you are going through. I am fortunate that they are both doing fairly well now, but it was a huge emotional roller coaster along the way. Living 2500 mi away from them didn't help either. The point is, there is alot of information and mutual support groups for cancer patients and their families out there. Sometimes being able to talk to people who are going through similar issues can help. It also might sound a bit counter intuitive, but it sounds like you need to devote a little bit of your precious time to youself, at least in the short term. I think people underestimate the stresses and demands that their family and children put on them on top of everything else. Try to make sure you reserve some time at least every other weekend for you to do something that is productive and that you enjoy (like riding dirt or taking a trip to the range) to help find your center again. good luck, drc |
