Default For those of you that dont know Rodney Mullen

Simply amazing. The inventor of the ollie impossible and dark slide. No wonder I broke my ankle so many times when I skated.

No one could reside in the same hemisphere as Mullen in the freestyle world back in the '80s. Love seeing him adapt his amazing moves to the street. Primo slides are SICK!! Love live the Mutt.

Default Simply Sick!!!!

Without Rodney Mullen, Street skateboarding would be 10 years behind where it is today. His ingenuity moved the sport far beyond where it was. Absolutely sick!!!!

I know Rodney Mullen is amazing and I don't mean to be a hater, but check him out circa 1980. He is definitely looking more street nowadays.

I would argue that Gonz invented dark "slides", but I think Rodney made them his b!tch. There is a whole series of "Dae Won Song versus Rodney Mullen." They both have such amazing control, but have different approaches to the super technical stuff. Dae Won, for example skates in what looks like a Home Depot on top of the aisles (where are the stuff is stored) and then has stuff hoisted up on forklifts to bridge the aisles. It's just super stupid. I love it.

I love the old school skating. When you exit the last downhill section at the loop, There is a Famous old school skate spot called the Euclid V on the right hand side. It is all gated off but its there.

So Mr. Bighit8, you know the other day when you were talking work / money / ride time and all of that? I'm self employed also and lately I've been getting my work-life balance by skating at Independance Park on weekdays @ 6:00 ~ 7:30AM or so. Of course I turn 46 thos year so I'm not skating like that. Heck, I wasn't @ 18 but what the heck. It's fun and on my way to work. You should come out. Fun spot on a BMX bike too.

I've been fighting a cold this weekend but if I'm feeling better I'll be there Monday for sure.

There is a large community of Old Guy Skaters out there hitting the parks. So Cal Skateparks dot.com is a good resource to find many parks and like minded individuals if you are so inclined.
