I know there is a lot of gear heads here, and the mini cooper thread made me think of this.I used to own one but could not afford to restore it at the time.Dumb move to sell it.Do you know what year make and model this is??Lets see who gets it first.Oh for a hint: look at the starter solenoid and its location.

You have a XR7 right? The eliminator was not made in 67.It is a 69 in the pics. The first eliminator was late 68-early 69 if my memory is right.

I think that is the 428 Ram Air Cobra-Jet.
My wife had a 1968 cougar with a 390ci when I met her. The FE block shoehorned into what was basically a mustang engine compartment, made for tight quarters compared to other cars of that era. We sold it several years ago and although it was a cool car in many ways, it was not fun to work on and always seemed to need something. The one shown looks like a '69 model. 1969 was an odd year for many performance cars. It was a one-year body style for a lot of cars like the mustang, cougar, camaro, firebird and others. That cougar shown is nice, but I'm more of a Pontiac guy and from 1969, this would be my pick: |

'69 Eliminator, but it's already been said. Nice.
My parents had a 69 cougar when i was a kid, with the 351 cleaveland (swapped out the windsor) and an awful green vinyl interior that would melt skin. Sold it to get a minivan for their burgeoning kid count...sigh...

There was a time in the seventies when the Mustang took a huge turn for the worse (Mustang II) and the Cougar went/stayed with a larger body style. Also, in the 90's, the Cougar shared a platform with the Thunderbird for a time and most recently was back to sharing with the Mustang. |
