Well, I was trying to postpone this as long as I could, but I think today is as good a day as any. Some may be sad, some may be glad, but I will no longer be posting on STR. My decision may be construed as personal or as a statement of protest, but I feel it is more a result of collective events. I feel STR had good karma when I first joined, but perhaps due to its growth or decisions from the powers that be which I do not agree with, has taken a turn towards emulating the core disciplines of a socialist regime. I find Irony in all the elitist "I shit ice cream" personas who counteract what I believe community and MTB to be all about; Time spent with friends and respect for those who share the same passion for the hobby/sport. It disappoints me to see people being judged and chastized in threads by 1, then 2, then more people who only voice opinions when they have others to back them up. When they don't have the integrity to stick to their guns publicly as an individual, they whine through PMs to Mods about insubstantial BS. I think alot of power is being abused here to feed personal agendas. There probably wouldn't be as many pissed off people around here and banning going on if we'd all get off our high horses and start listening to and respecting each other. Do we really encapsulate ourselves inside of cyber bubbles behind our monitors thinking that we can disrespect and abuse people just because we can't touch or see them in front of us? Why? The world is not that big. This is a local community resource and we will all eventually meet someone we have disrespected at some point. Will you put on the plastic face when that happens or will you be able to look someone square in the eye? Speaking for myself, I am the same jackass day in and day out, online or on the trail. Those who have met me can attest to that. I think we lost sight of what we have here and we need to regain it. The first person who throws a punch is the first one who ran out of ideas. I will definitely be meeting more of you on the trails. Respond as you wish to this post. No judgement in here, at least not from me. I won't be responding. Thanks to all for the great info and laughs. Perhaps if things get less hostile around here in the future I'll start sniffing around again. Until then, keep the rubber side down and thanks for the good times

All kidding aside...I totally understand where you're coming from. There's a few sour apples on the board that ruin it for a lot of us normal, well adjusted people.

But why let them "win?" Idiots are EVERYWHERE. If you want to get away from them, you may as well stop driving, stop voting, and board yourself up in your bedroom never to come out again. That's the only way you'll avoid the masses of f-tards!

I don't know what issues surround the OP, but in relation to the this site I think this is the most tame and well adjusted group of people I have ever had the pleasure of interacting with on the interweb. Seriously the interweb is a horrible vile place with 13 year old nerds who will never see a woman naked ruling as if they were Joseph Stalin reborn.

This site is kid stuff, polite and sensible in the best way, if you don't believe me go check out 4chan. That place will ruin a good person. I come here as a vacation from the rest of the web. And to talk with some great people.
