Heres my input.I am gonna use a analogy: sort of.In my Business I deal with car dealers. Now I can pass 30 of their cars and I am their best friend, but I fail one and I'm a jackass,I don't know what im talking about, and a-------------- fill it in with vulgar comments.I have been given a hard time here from time to time as well.I take it with a grain of salt.Thats just life. But a few harsh comments of unlike opinions wont drive me away from a great group as a whole. The people that have posted negative to some of things I have said, just have a different point of view.I just try not to be negative back and let it pass.I just try to understand the comments from their point of view, wrong or right. However I am not perfect,so I may guilty of piss#$g some one off as well. However that is never my intention. In closing constructive criticism is ok, but to directly attack someone is a different story. An example: Joetruth posted something about me not wearing a helmet "as a father you should know better". Now I could have taken that as Im not a good father. But I thought, that was not his point. His point was more that my kids need me and does not want to see people get hurt.Long winded I know! But sometimes read twice and respond, Instead of read once and post in anger.So.....

It appears I just missed a lot of the drama. Aside from the occasional post of mine that gets deleted with no warning or explanation, I only see drama from a very small minority of people. I just ignore them. Just like in real life.

I just like to ride my bike and drink beer.

I've been around here for a pretty long time(lurker and posting) and this site Is What It Is..there are many other mtnbiking sites I won't go to b/c of the attitudes you speak of....I like this site b/c it's more of a community then just a message board...you are right this site has changed over the few years that it's been around but that will happen w/ growth of anything...I commend the mods for trying to keep this a nice site that doesn't have the flaming and attitudes that some other(empty beer) sites have(only my opinion)

sorry to see you leave but......BYE

I feel STR had good karma when I first joined, but perhaps due to its growth or decisions from the powers that be which I do not agree with, has taken a turn towards emulating the core disciplines of a socialist regime. I find Irony in all the elitist "I shit ice cream" personas who counteract what I believe community and MTB to be all about; Time spent with friends and respect for those who share the same passion for the hobby/sport. It disappoints me to see people being judged and chastized in threads by 1, then 2, then more people who only voice opinions when they have others to back them up. When they don't have the integrity to stick to their guns publicly as an individual, they whine through PMs to Mods about insubstantial BS. I think alot of power is being abused here to feed personal agendas. There probably wouldn't be as many pissed off people around here and banning going on if we'd all get off our high horses and start listening to and respecting each other. Do we really encapsulate ourselves inside of cyber bubbles behind our monitors thinking that we can disrespect and abuse people just because we can't touch or see them in front of us? Why? The world is not that big. This is a local community resource and we will all eventually meet someone we have disrespected at some point. Will you put on the plastic face when that happens or will you be able to look someone square in the eye? Speaking for myself, I am the same jackass day in and day out, online or on the trail. Those who have met me can attest to that. I think we lost sight of what we have here and we need to regain it. The first person who throws a punch is the first one who ran out of ideas. I will definitely be meeting more of you on the trails. Respond as you wish to this post. No judgement in here, at least not from me. I won't be responding. Thanks to all for the great info and laughs. Perhaps if things get less hostile around here in the future I'll start sniffing around again. Until then, keep the rubber side down and thanks for the good times

SS you've been on this site for like 6 months and noticed changes...well so is life. I pay attention to maybe 10% of the posts, I have learned to filter out much of what does on and use what works for me.

I like others have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. I am not going to say I am sorry that you are leaving because you were not in the group that offer up relevant and helpful MTB info. But I can wish you happy trails and don't the the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

Other people have done this "bye I'm leaving" stuff before. They come back when they realize that all other MTB sites are far less than expected.

This site is what it is…….it has its own culture. I would say that 60% are n00bies just getting into the sport and trying to learn. It is great to see how many age groups, ethnic groups etc.. love M-Biking!

35% that are weekend warrior veterans.

5% that are self absorbed with a hey look at me attitude that most people in the real world find annoying.

Bottom line is none of us can force our will of what we want STR to be. George and the mods make this site what it is. (and that is ok)

Put it this way….you do not go into a Buddhist temple and expect everyone to praise Jesus.

Go with the flow.........

SS, I met you once riding in Aliso, and you seemed like an okay person.

I must agree with others here that it's important to be able to "filter" out a lot of what's posted on STR. Myself, I tend to be opinionated and passionate... somewhat of a hothead, as those who know me will attest to. After a number of months here, i'm learning RESTRAINT.

STR is short for SoCal Trail Riders. This site is supposed to be about mountain-biking. Sometimes I need to remember this and proceed accordingly.

Happy trails!

Good riddance! I'm tired of all of your horse poop thread bumps and mindless posts of links on how to fix my bike. I want to know what you know how to fix not what you could regurgitate from Park Bikes or another online resource. What can I say I agree with the others, you are an attention whore that needs reflection in all that you do. I would cringe anytime I saw your name next to a thread on the main page. The only thought that would come to my head would be "oh God what kind of crap is spilling out now".

Hey Sniff since you're heading out take this with you
