I'm having a hard time looking past the missing helmet on you. I'm sorry, that's just dumb and irresponsible. Being a father yourself, you'd think you know better.

Now take it easy people. If you "read" the original post it explains why I did not have on a helmet.I don't normally ride without a helmet. And Justin my little brother split his head from ear to ear and was in a comma so I know what your saying. If you see the video was less than a minute long.I wasn't out riding all day with no helmet.

I cannot believe that people still feel the need to "babysit" older board members.

Danny is an adult...he has children...he is more than capable of making his own decisions. He loaned his helmet to an inexperienced rider who didn't have one. I would have done the same thing...wouldn't you?!

They are jumping about 20 inches off the ground at low to moderate speed. I really don't think there's a serious threat of injury here. I don't know about you, but I grew up racing BMX and going to jump spots with a bunch of people. We jumped 20 FOOTERS all day long busting tricks with no helmets...no teenager wore a helmet dirt jumping.

I know, I know...ALL of you wore bike helmets 100% of the time. You wore motorcycle helmets without fail before it was a law. You always wore a seatbelt, you've never ridden in the bed of a pickup, and you've never broken ANY traffic or trail laws.

Jiminy christmas, people...mind your own. When he needs a babysitter, he'll hire one. You guys sound like the kind of people that would be "fair weather friends." I hope you would be able to put your egos behind you if someone DID make a mistake and needed help or visits from friends in a hospital...instead of coming on here and saying "I told you so...shoulda had a helmet on, he deserves it." Everyone makes mistakes...including YOU.

Looks like fun, Danny. Let me know when you're going next time!

Let me explain a little more (not that I need to).My Friend who has not rode a bike for over 15 years has had a rough time.I posted about him before when he tried to commit suicide.I have been tying to get him to ride for years. He called and asked if he could borrow a bike.Anyhow we rode just to that jump from the court house, less than 3 miles at a slugs pace.So...........there is more than meets the eye.I just thought ya might like a short video clip.

Watching people jump their bikes who aren't wearing helmets is like watching porn where they aren't wearing condoms. Sure it looks fun, it just seems extra dangerous.

Cool video.

Tell that to a cousin of mine who 10 years ago was in a comma for 3-4 years. Even though he pulled through, he will never be able to resume a normal life and can't care for himself. I've talked to him and man, what he would do to have that one day back in his life!
He was enjoying a nice summer day, cruising on the beach board walk at maybe 7-8 mph and some kid darted in front of him causing him to lock his brakes and do a head dive onto the concrete. End-result: serious brain damage!
Would he have walked away from it if he was a wearing a helmet? Highly likely. I'm sorry, I don't see your point nor agree with you.

Danny, I'm not trying to bust your balls or act all high and mighty. I've had this debate and appear like the bad guy with my son and his long boarding helmet-less friends many times. They think I'm over-reacting. All it takes is one time and a split second and your whole life would change, not to mention the life of those who rely on you and need you.

Let's just call it tough-love and move on.
