Last weekend I was headed back to New Mexico last weekend, driving north on I-17 in Phoenix at Deer Valley. But this butthole was holding everyone up doing exactly the 45 mph speed limit in the left lane while in the double fine construction zone.
![]() It wasn't a cop car, but I was reminded of the stoplight camera thread a few weeks ago of private companies processing traffic tickets. Eitherway, no one was eager to pass him. As soon as the zone ended he sped up to 10 over. I saw him again halfway up to Flagstaff holding up traffic, before he got off at Camp Verde. Tailgate states "Excessive Speed Monitor Services" and you could see a large black object on the front dash board through the rear tinted glass. |

I'm sure that there aren't nearly enough highway workers killed by speeding motorists, the nerve of that "butthole" to hold you up in a construction zone.

Those actually don't catch speeders while moving. I saw one of those on the side of freeway and what it does is all kinds of cameras lights, etc mount to the top and it becomes a mobile speed monitor.
I agree blue when there are workers actually there I agree slow the hell down but when there are no workers to been seen and just some cones on a perfectly good road I don't get slowing traffic down 20+ mph. |

The LAST thing we need is another private company profiting from 'nailing us law-breaking speeders'. The lengths that they will go to to 'catch' us will never end as technology allows them to 'see' us everywhere. What the hell are the police for then? I can see these guys getting all sorts of stuff thrown at them once they start issuing "got you on camera" super high-dollar citations. Big brother has now just sub-contracted out. The end is near - time to move to Canada. Ha!!
![]() PS - I'd hate to be driving one of these cars for a living. Meter maids only dole out 50 dollar tickets and people treat them like crap all the time. I'd be wearing kevlar in that car.....

Actually it would be a very easy but boring job. They pull off the freeway and just sit there letting the cameras do all the work. I am not sure that they even ticket the 5-10 mph over type things since it would be easy to fight to prove the accuracy and if there was a car next you that could effect the reading. I think they sit there and get the cars who are in that 15-20mph+ category.

In Europe, i'm told there are automated radar guns with cameras on some major freeways (such as the Autobahn). You get a speeding ticket in the mail, with photos of your face/car/license plate. If you don't pay, police (plural) show-up at your door... where you either pay or get taken away in handcuffs.
Yes, it sounds like some "Big Brother" scenario out of "1984"... and YES, in time it will be happening in the USA too. When it does, be certain to take note of the senators who support it.
