So has anyone else noticed what I was saying, that even though they frequently have specific names & events (or maybe partly because?), that the grammar & diction give these away as entertaining fables, not true events?

ODD, I don't feel like your post was challenging or "unamerican" and I was not offended in anyway. I was building on your point on "the spin" of internet emails and such. These tibits have their entertainment value and often change as they are passed from one to the next.
