Default Best Yellow Post camp site in Big Bear?

Heading up to big bear tomorrow and plan to do some camping with the Dogs and bikes. We usually go in behind Fawnskin and camp of of 2n16, there are a couple of good yellow post sites out there. But I heard this all burned last year and we ahve been wanting to check out the south/west side of the lake.

Does any one know of anu good yellow post sites over there?

I am asking for yellow post and not organized campgrounds. One of the reasons we head up there is to let the dogs run for a couple of days and organized sites are very strict with leash rules.

Thanks!

Not Big Bear but close, there is Yellow Post camping along the road that goes up to Keller Peak Lookout/Children's Demo Forest, it is between Running Springs and Arrowbear (next to Deer Lick Visitor's Center) and you can ride Exploration Trail while you are there. Don't look for Exploration Trail on the maps, it is a fairly new trail and has not made it onto the maps yet.

Almost all the yellow post sites back above Fawnskin are closed due to the Bulter and Slide Fires. Do as Dean suggests and hit the Keller Peak sites. I did a few interval runs this afternoon. There wasn't a soul up there and you have access to Exploration, Rim and all the BB trails.

There is a yellow post site on the south side of the lake that is pretty cool. If you take Skyline all the way toward the west end, it starts to drop down. A little ways past where the turnoff that goes to some camps is another fire road you can turn left on. It is one you turn on to get to the Castle Rock trail. Go past the trail head to Castle Rock for about a mile and a little ways before the road dead ends is a yellow post site. I think it's #30.

Did the yellow post site that was on the way to Grout Bay from Grays Peak also burn?
