I aim to misbehave

Dudes & dudettes, who cares whether or not he rides lame-fireroads or has secret service riding behind in a golf cart (I would imagine the nuclear football is in the cart too). The current sitting president of the USA, "the most powerful nation in the world", is an active "mountain" biker. We all like to talk about the "brotherhood" of cyclists on this site....
There are alot of varried political opinions on views on life here yet we all respect each other becasue we all ride. Some of us are XC weight weenies, some are thrillseeking DH'ers others are more casual riders and then there's the weird 29'er and ss cults, but we all share the common bond of the love of riding on two wheels. Regardless of how you feel about his policies, war, immigration, etc, he is a rider, and I respect him for that. I think its cool that the whitehouse could very well be receiving a monthly subscription of Mtb-Action or getting the periodic Nashbar catalog. Now its too bad that our lobbying organizations like IMBA or CORBA cannot take advantage of that fact and get some pro-bike/pro-trail-access legislation thru. It would be wonderful if they could get a bill infront of him that re-designates "wilderness" areas to allow MTB access. Heck, it might not even take a bill since I believe the BLM and Forestry departments are all under the department of the interior and hence an executive order could be all that is needed to open access to areas that are currently off limits to bikes. drc |
