Default Can barely get a ride in without seeing one of these

Seems like it's going to be a banner year for spotting snakes on the trails.

In the past six weeks or so I've seen quite a few Gopher Snakes, Racers, Kings, 1 Rosey Boa, 1 dead Coachwhip USGS brought in; and of course rattlers on a very regular basis.

Be careful out there and get your "bunny hopping" skills honed in so you don't run over these critters.......and enjoy the sightings!

I've also spotted a few weasels recently but can never catch them with my camera. There's tons of great stuff to see out on the trails locally!

I've seen both rattlers and coyotes on every ride I've done this past week.

Chino Hills
O'Neill/Tijeras
Sierra Peak

Even saw a coyote trying to bite the back tire of my friend's bike while she was climbing near Sierra Peak. I think we were near a den and momma was being protective.

Yep but he was being really mellow. The one we ran across in Utah the week before was very mad, he was not going to get off the trail.

And it still stayed mellow, I think he wanted a hug from ya, or a least a little pet.

+1 on the Snakes just about every ride. Saw a Partridge Family the other day at Aliso, couldn't get the camera out fast enough...about 12-15 minis and two adults. I couldn't help but think some will be gotten by snakes. Really little things those babies, way smaller than chicks.
