Default i dispise being micromanaged!!!!! (a rant)

2 emails, stating the same directions for a new project.

fine. zero issue. clear as can be.

now, my boss (worst offender of micro-managing I've ever had in 8 years in the industry) feels the need to call me and reiterate TWICE in one phone call what these directions are.

better yet: office manager here comes by to make sure that i totally understand (2nd worst offender of micro-mananging I've seen) what the project is.

People are pretty good about not doing that in Insurance...at least as far as I can tell.

Thumbs up Grasshopper!

Take the long view... what is said and done here will not mean a hill of beans in 10 years... learn to accept the things you can't change and try to change the things you can't accept ... and know the difference between the two.

Looks at it this way.. you have your health, people that love you... you have a bike and get to ride it ... everything else truly pales to insignificance.

Micro-managers are the first to lay blame when something isn't right. Save the emails. Send them a return email (with receipt) explaining how well you understand. Now they have to support you.

here's the worst part- I'm in environmental consulting where you're hired by what you know and how you do it. I'd like to think that I'm a pretty competent employee.

I think in my industry it's more that people turn a blind eye to incompetence for the sake of convenience...or the managers just don't have a clue themselves.

Sorry but have to laugh. Most industries are that way. I could tell you stories about my place.........For example our sales manager (VP) is crazy. I swear when his guys go to the bathroom he tells them if they can go #1 or #2

I am a manager and learned a long time ago. Hire good people, set goals and get out of their way...........
