I fall a lot
|
Here is my story.
I love my Warrior, I have got more enjoyment out of that bike than any other investment I can remember making. Problem is, it is the wrong bike for me. A) I'm tall and clumsy, and when I rode a 29er, the extra stability made me feel at home. Warrior is a 26 inch (with a damaged rear )B) After riding a fully, I realize my back will be much happier with me if I go that route C) My current frame is a little too big I think. I took a few demo's out from The Path, and really had a great time comparing the different bikes. I'm a big dude, looking for a do everything bike, and so far, I've proven to be tough on my poor little Warrior. I've looked at the Canzo, as well as the Hei Hei 2-9, and while both can be built in my price range, they are XC bikes, and I'm afraid the combo of my size, my riding style, and how often I eat shit, that it would be a bad idea to go down that path. Plus I love the idea of building a custom. So I'm thinking... What if I got a sweet deal on a Rip 9 frame, built some tank wheels (Flows are pretty darn strong right?), and ordered an 09 reba with the uturn and maxle. I could then move everything else over from my warrior (garbage cranks, brand new bottom bracket, X5 shifters, X7 rear, XT front, BB7 Brakes, FSA stem and bars). I could probably get a couple hundred bucks out of the left overs (frame, fairly new revelation fork, original wheels, and the front FSA XC300), and then just upgrade everything as it wears out/breaks. Eventually having a bike with hand picked parts, that would be way out of my price range if I tried to buy it all right now. My warrior headset is integrated, so I'm pretty sure I'd need a new one of those. Anything I'm forgetting? Any reason that this is a terrible idea? ![]() |

The new RIP is a great all day bike. One question. What kind of hubs do you have? If the rims are shot and the hubs are nice that maybe a good way to save some $$$. ps. I am counting the days for the new Reba to arrive ![]() |

![]() You will also need new cables and housing. The best thing to do is get the frame, fork, HS, wheels and swap over what you can. Buy what you need and sell the rest. |
