Hell, I have new paint again. I ain't taking it off Van Dusen.
Paint? What's that?!

Speaking of John Bull, theres about 10 Hummers (H1's, H2's, and H3's) from my club that are running it this Sat. Most of them are modified with the smallest tire being a 33" and they are all locked in the rear. Should be interesting to see how they do.

Wish I could go, but im loosing another friend to that thing called "Marriage."

Default Log skidder / Ardco

Yeah, quite a few skidders in Louisiana too. And they have the same feature that made the Ardco 4x4 exploration rigs so good - the center AO joint and ram steering. The wheels don't pivot at all -- the whole vehicle pivots in the middle. And if you're getting stuck, you can shake that beast back and forth pretty violently! Pretty gnarly if you're riding in the back. Our rig had an expanded metal cage out back and unpadded metal benches along the sides -- could fit about six guys and gear -- but mostly just gear, while the crew walked along behind.

about the only place that truck didn't do well was in deep sand or mud. for that stuff you need HP. i built the 22R in my truck and it was decent with a big carb, cam, header and exhaust... but it didn't have the power of bigger motors.

flexy axles?? the toyota 8.5" axles were pretty darn stout. they weren't indestructable, i know because i blew up a 3rd member on the rear of my truck once, but they weren't crap like the Dana 25 that came stock on the front of all the jeep products.

i hope when you talk about FJ, you are talking about classic FJ... not the crap that they are making now!

i wheeled with a guy back in the day with a sick FJ. had a 500 ci cadillac engine. he had endless power, but it was too heavy. i used to easily crawl up stuff that left him wheel standing and balancing on his spare tire rack.
Back in the 70's when I was having most of my 4WD fun, we liked the FJ Toyotas a lot, but the hot setup then was a Chevota -- a small-block Chevy transplant. I did a Cheveep -- 327 into my Jeep J-300 Gladiator.
