Default Nature is active

This year we should see a bumper crop of phuc'n beetles!

Freaky in flight,
Some people run in fright...
Never seen a beetle bite.

What is lurking in your backyard?

That’s a couple of scarab beetles, tie a piece of thread on one of their hind legs and fly them like a kite, it's hilarious……but I’m easily entertained.

Horney Toads are not near as common as they once were.
I think they are reduced numbers, and are due all the respect you can give them.

Did run across a few baby HT's last year on the Bell view trail....First sighting in many many years for me!

No Foxes....... but honestly can't say I've seen any locally. I did once see TWO Foxes at Corral Canyon (Lake Morena) several years ago.

Plenty of Coyote, but who hasn't?!?!?

I'd have to agree. I hadn't seen one for many years and we saw a few last Sunday. Strange.

All of the various lizards seem to be on kamikaze missions lately.

That's true. They're under a lot of pressure and are considered "threatened" as their native food supply (native ants) are being out-competed by non-native Argentine ants that are slowly invading the southland and supplanting the native species.

Last year I met the guy who runs this web site and organization: http://www.hornedlizards.org/hornedl...rds_frame.html

Really interesting guy full of info.
