School, like many things, is what you make of it and what you take from it.
School is not for everyone, and these institutions are not the only source of knowledge and wealth. The kicker is that personal growth, and learning will always be a bit uncomfortable in any setting. Most worthy indeavors will. Good luck. |

Hey listen I know lots of people that did not get a "higher" education. You can do other things like be a welder, electrician, mechanic or just have a great work ethic and start your own buisness. I know some welders and small buisness owners that will blow the doors off of collage educated people if they want to compare salarys. Its all what you make out of it.
School is not for everybody although if you wanted to be a electrican or a welder you are going to have to get some training. I have a degree in engineering I work in the field. At this time in my life I am going back to OCC to take the welding program. I also thought about going to law school. At this time in my life I can't see myself in a cube for the next 30 some years. I know a couple of guys that never finshed High school and they are now multi-millonaires. One of those friends even has season laker tickets and spends all his time at the AMEX room at Staples Center. Listen if you go to school get your degree life is going to be a lot easier for you. Although if you have work ethic and basic commen sense then the world can be yours.

1st point: The number of multi-millionaires is very small compared to the rest of the population, AND Orange County has the highest concentration of them in the country, so your personal experience may be a little skewed by that fact. Yes, people don't need education to go on and achieve great things BUT the number of people who can do that is pretty damn small!!!
2nd point: I totally agree...many times, work ethic means more than book smarts. Without work ethic, it doesn't matter if you're a self-made millionaire or a college student or a business professional...you won't make it without work ethic. |

Is that all people care (I didn't say everyone) about in OC? Big SUVs, huge houses, and which ivy league school you graduated from to match their massive egos? Boy are they missing out on the better things in life like riding a bike.

Enjoy school while you're there, and be grateful that being able to attend college is a privilege!
You hit it right in the head. Some of the wealthiest people I know happen to be some of the most miserable! |

School sucks. I had a career before I went back to school and I loved my job more than this stupid game of class, studying and exams. It's a scam as far as I'm concerned. You graduate with a piece of paper and you're qualified to do NOTHING. If you want to do anything meaningful you have to go to graduate or professional school and that's another 2-7 years and a few hundred K more in loans. What a crock.
