If you look at the close-up photo it doesn't look like anything is holding the stones on the car, aka "a setting". No prongs, beads or wire. So, they may be epoxied on. In that case, they could very well be Swarovski crystals, the price is about right (yes, they can be very expensive, especially in that quantity), plus, even from a photo I can see that they don't have the 'life' or sparkle of diamond. Still, that car has to be a bi'ach to clean.

Yep, our gas money going to the cause of tasteless, wasteful opulence.

Somewhere in an article I saw a rough breakdown of how much money Saudi-Arabia or Quatar makes in extra dollars with each penny price rise in the US. It's in the billions.

um, Joe...somehow I think that this Saudi turd could care less what you think about his crystal encrusted car. He's too busy opressing women and crushing the basic human rights of his fellow Saudis right now. And when he's done with that, he'll probably squeeze in a little more vacation time with the Cheneys and the Bush crime family. (Rest assured this vacation time will include a laugh fest at how well they turned our attention away from Saudi Arabia and refocused it on Iraq after 9/11.) Then he'll buy another car. Or maybe he'll just get another wife. Or both. Oh, the world is your oyster when you're a male and your family owns a country but doesn't own a conscience. So chances are, his plans don't involve aid to India and Africa. Just a hunch.

After seeing that [car], I'll never feel bad about spending excessive amounts of money on my bikes. You are right of course, its all relative.

The guy is worth over $25 Billion and owns his own Airbus A380. This ain't shiat. I don't fault anyone for spending the money they earned. Everybody's gotta make a profit and the Saudis were born on top of liquid gold. Call it luck.

$4.8 million sounds a lot, but it's only like 20,000 Euro.

I'm not sure I buy the "$1,000 to touch". Who wants to touch a car that bad? Maybe they mean drive it for a grand but still come'on, it's just a regular car with confetti all over it.

I'm sorry, Sam but I couldn't disagree with you more. Yes, he's got more money then God and yes, he can choose to do what he wants with it but out of ignorance, he chooses to lavish himself and his own family. When one is as fortunate as he is, they should use such wealth to help others who are not as fortunate as he is. He could've easily been one of the unfortunate ones. He comes from a region who has it's own struggles and shares with poverty (Middle East). You'd think he would know better but guess what, he doesn't. Education or no education, he's ignorant and full of himself.
Take Bill Gates for example. Love him or hate him but by the time it's all said and done, he'll end-up putting back 80-90% of his wealth to needy causes around the globe. That's putting your money where it counts and making a difference. If more wealthy people did that, we wouldn't have such feast or famine but I guess that's just the way our society is and is the way of the ignorant world.

Let's talk about "earning it." He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Where's the "earning" in that?

Joe, who is to say he is not helping the poor? I don't know enough about the guy to say he is or he isn't.

I called it luck, you call it a silver spoon. Both are good descriptors. Fact is, he can spend his money how he wants.

You and I wouldn't buy the Benz, but I would buy a mountain bike costing thousands of dollars that many people consider frivolous and wasteful. I could spend those thousands of dollars helping needy people here in the US, but instead I buy a bike. That doesn't mean I don't help the needy, but I don't regret my choices to buy my bikes either.
