30 - 40k depending on how clean you want it. A coworker almost pulled the trigger on a white one in Ohio that had 20k miles on it and was super clean - the thing was $40k.

I see the trend doesn't just stop w/ bikes. Maybe there should be a BikeMax store too?

matt, 40k seems to be the average price for a 1996-2001 model year which had the 3.2L engine, different brakes and i'm sure other small things.. the older ones can be had for like 23k-40k

Liquid55, the below quotes are you're answer why everyone hates american cars. My wife's Neon DOHC which did get 33 mpg, couldn't even make 200k mi w/o dying a violent and firey death when the connecting rod decided it didn't want to take up residence anymore with the other 3. American trucks...different story.

I'm holding out for a TDI or BlueTec as I do highway miles and ride two wheels for my commutes.

I miss my '92 Civic Si Hatchback. It had 225K miles and was still going like a champ. It went a 17-yr old kid who I'm sure has raced the sheit out of it.

Dude I should have kept it. I was hurting for cash at the time but still got a good price of around $3500 I think. It was essentially stock, original engine, tranny, paint. Super fun car. Granted, I blew threw 2 radiators, alternator, h20 pump and the stupid CV boots galore. But all the major stuff worked great. Still remember days of packing 3 guys, and 3 bikes in that car.

Used VW?! I hope you're a good mechanic.

Speaking of TDI's, if Toyota or Honda ever brought their diesel engined cars over to the states, I'd be all over it! Imagine the efficiency of a XB turbo diesel, or a element with a turbo diesel...... I'd buy 2!

Personally ....I'm getting 17-24 in my v6....and thats ok. I think when my house sells tho, I'm going to pick up an old VW bug to commute in. I love my new truck...but I use to have a 66 bug that got killer gas milage, I don't know what the future holds for us and gas...but I want to be prepared, and still have the bigger vehicle to tow with etc.

That is classic! You must be one hella of a driver.

I have the SC model and it's fun to pass people on the out side. The SC can eat up some serious corners(I have the 5sp version)! It'll be even fast after the stock tires wear out and put some sticky rubbers on.

BUT if I had to do it all over again I would strongly consider the Honda Fit, simply because of the better mpg. I get about 28ish mpg with my conservative driving which isn't bad at all but more mpg is always better.
I have an 07 speed 3. Tons of space with the seats down, I get 25-27 around town and 30-32 on the highway. Oh, and it is modified and puting out about 300HP. Take it to the track often.

Every car is different, my S10 had 174k on it ran fine never changed anything but oil and filters. Had a Ford escort in High School with almost 300k miles, only reason I got rid of it is the floor pan was so rusted (Ohio salt). Then my dad had a Honda Accord that went through two transmission before 80k miles. Sister had one that the brakes let go before 10k miles. All cars are man made and anything can happen to them.

I have my Nissan Frontier as my weekend vehicle to transport my bikes and Home Depot stuff. Even though its a "small" truck with a V6 it still sucks gas. Probably averaging 18mpg.

I was lucky enough to get a '90 Miata (yes, I'm secure enough with my masculinity to drive one) for $500. Economical, relatively cheap parts, and I only have to fill it up once every two weeks and I keep the wear and tear off my truck.
