AREN'T.
if you have little ones, stay away from any medication bottles that aren't the traditional yellow/brown/orangeish ones with the white cap. yes, stick with the ones that are nearly impossible to open by a capable human. our 8 month old yesterday got into a completely closed bottle by sticking the cap in her mouth, and twisting, obviously while pushing down. I tried it and it took little/no effort. the rest of the story: a panicked phone call from the wife at 3:00 yesterday. i get home in zero time (only two red lights blown) and she's in tears holding the kid. she informs me that grommet Faith had gotten into a pill bottle and that 911 had been called as well as poison control. so, a fabulous trip to the ER- Irvine regional isn't too bad- quick in, quick service, but i digress.... in the end the kiddo got none of the meds. some math with the ER doc, myself and the wife confirmed that the pill count in the bottle and the doses she's taken match in numbers. whew. ER doc keeps her for about 1.5 hours for observations and all's fine as well. yes, our 8 month old is developing more quickly than most (per the docs), and is stronger than most (one of her nicknames is "death grip"), and it was an absolute fluke that the bottle was within reach. here's the scary part- she grabbed the bottle, opened the bottle, emptied and was playing with the pills in about 15 seconds- time for the wife to take a "spent" diaper out to the trashcan and back. watch your kiddos, all.

dam ethan, that is absolutely scary. one of my biggest fears as a parent with groms running around. i have baby-proofed our cabinet underneath the sink as well as fortified the kitchen with a gate only the older kids can get over.
What was the medication? your looney pills ![]()
