They are fast, but I never liked the clutch less stick shift, just feels odd and not really fun to use. Hope they have improved or changed this on newer models.

The M3 has turned into a pig. There is no reason for that car to weigh 3650lbs other than to accessories it for the poseurs and Coto moms. The E30 and even the E36 were drivers cars. BMW need to do a stripper version of that car that weighs 1000lbs less. As it is now it's just an S4 without the ridiculous understeer.

well a lot of the weight comes from the safety improvements that's required now on the modern day road cars. You have to admit that the later gen BMW's are more rigid and stronger than before so something has to give. I dont think an E30 M3 would pass federal crash test nowadays.

the newer B8 S4 or the current RS4's have the more current generation of Torsen that's more rear wheel biased like 40/60 split rather than 50/50 before so it should be a lot better...plus w/ the new B8 chassis the motor and tranny is more further back so as a result you have a much closer 50/50 weight distribution than before that made the S4's such an understeering PORKer.

Actually it's a moot point because I'd take a Z06 in a heartbeat over an M3. Heck I'd take a Z06 over pretty much anything, best bang for the buck drivers car on the planet. Have you seen LA BMW dealers are marking M3's up $30,000. $100,000 for an M3, what a joke.

yes that's a rude rude thing to do did you hear bout the guy out here that won an ebay auction for a brand new M3 sedan and the dam dealership didnt want to honor the auction...after much harassment from the interweb community and some pro-bono attorney work they changed there minds and he's the owner of a BMW M3 sedan for 60k!

the Z06 is a great performer when it comes to bang for the buck but dammit if i'm not enthralled with the new GTR (so are the magazines) did you see the shootout they did with the Z06 and the Porsche Turbo? it SPANKED both of them it's an awesome car.

IS-F anyone? I'm actually not a big paddle-shifting fan myself, but I've always loved the look of the IS.

the IS-F is kind of an disappointment for me. I know they're trying to go their own direction in terms of performance but dammit wtf is up w/ the double stacked quad exhausts???? I saw one in RSM on one our rides and it looked ok...i really like the subtle looks of the S4/RS4/E90 M3 just subtle muscular bulges without drawing too much attention to itself. And 8 speeds is nice but I WANT to row my own gears

The fenders on the IS-F seem a bit over the top with the vented sides you know what i mean?

I'm sure you're referring to the Road & Track article. For what it's worth all the testing was done by Steve Millen and he has a vested interest in the GTR performing the best. This isn't just speculation, I know him pretty well, I was an engineer/fabricator for him for 4 years. Sooooo, take that test with a grain of salt. I like the GTR but again it's 4000lbs, it uses electronics to get you around the track quickly, I'd rather have a lighter nimble car that required more input from the driver, cest la vie.

i think it was Road and Track 3 car shoot out...didnt know about the GT3 that's an awesome feat to beat the P car...but you know competition improves the breed and i'm sure Porsche has dissected a GTR already and coming up with their own

Thats very true. Throw price into the equation and the GTR walks away with it.
