Airlines going Bankrupt

My brother and sister are on vac. in Hawaii right now and they flew ATA, now they're stuck there because ATA and Aloha Airlines just went bankrupt and stopped all operations.

I guess Hawaii isn't a bad place to get stuck though

Ouch, that sucks ass. Do they get reimbursed at all or do they have to buy a new ticket?

If they paid with a credit card(I think they did) they have to get refunded by their CC company and then buy new tickets from another airline.

I just checked the the tix I purchased in January for May travel...........

I had 4 tickets booked through ATA for June/July to Hawaii. Tried calling the CC company and the dispute department was so busy I kept getting routed back to customer service.

crazy situation oveeall in airline industry as I think alaoha just filed as well (or cut flights significantly). don't remember all the facts but got caught up in a airline situation a few years back while boarding at whistler. think ot was a mech strike or something but same as not a bad place to get stuck (too bad was 'resolved' and I didn't get any more time in the park )
