Im a drummer as well, been playing for almost 15 years. I just recently had to sell my kit for space and $$$ for a new bike. Kinda hard to let go, but at least I have another kit in storage back east. I also play the banjo (which Ive really been into lately) and the bass. Some days I wish that biking was as easy as music, then some wishing that music was as easy as biking. All good though.
Btw, loving the gretsch set, bet it sounds killer! ![]()

IN the 90's I drummed for a goth band called The Texas Vamps and an industrial band called Penal Colony. I had an old gretsch kit that I triggered using a drumKAT. For samples I used an EMU Procussion as well as a Kurzweil K2000 that was mixed with the acoustic kit. Sounded intense but boy was it a pain in the ass to set up for gigs. I got tired of the politics with the labels. Now I just drive a brown truck and keep life real simple.

I have played drums for almost 30 years now. I haven't been doing much since I have been down in Orange County except a small music theater production. I was also fortunate to work for Pork Pie Percussion for six years and collect a nice kit and a half dozen snares. I also have a bunch of mics, and 8 track hard disk recorder that I dabble with in Sonic Foundry and Acid. It would be fun to collaborate with anyone that would be interested.

I played and did mini tours in a band called Amerikan Made. I was with them for over 3 years.
http://www.amerikanmade.com/ I also toured with a band called The Authority That band split up before the internet became a promotional tool. That band is no longer together and has no web page just a couple of record one of them was called on glory side. Our last recording was in a analog studio in costa mesa it was for a split 7 inch with Dropkick Merphys. I stopped talked to them right after the recording. Who knows what happened with that. I did see a record released using 3 or the four songs we recorded I picked it up but I don't remember what it was called it packed away with all my other music junk. Its not like my record player is hooked up or anything. I played with a bunch of other bands also. The numbers , The spooky, Inspecter 12, Splinter, US bombs,J.F.K., I'm sure I am missing some of them . Some of the bands we just did recordings some I worked on writing songes with. Some I played shows with. Its been a long time I don't think much about it any more. Willie and I just jam when we have time other than that I'm over it. P.S. if anyone can find the Numbers 12 inch I will buy it I Played on that record and I am on the front cover. I didn't get one and It is out of print now. Quote:

My friend steve Shears has been playing drums for Shattered Faith for for some of the shows.
Do you know Steve shears? Steve Reynolds was playing bass for the bombs back at that the time I was around. I should start playing again. It was fun most of the time. |

Used to play in a band in the later years of high school and for some time after. I had to stop though because my wonderful neighbors kept calling the cops.
Before Llamapudge has a chance to say it, it wasn't because we were so bad. It's becasue they are crazy . They once called the cops on SuperBowl Sunday because of an acoustic guitar being played.

Yeah that is his new kit he loves that thing. It sounds great. He is in Firecracker 400 I recorded some video for them I wonder if they have used any of it. Steve had a set of Black ludwig drums when ha was in a band called knucklehead. I think it had 24 or 26 inch bass drums ha ha . I like deeper smaller bass drums. I think they sound better and are easier to tune.
I have 2 premier kits The main kit I play is a Premier Resenator from 70's vintage it was all custom reworked in metal flake gold sparkle by Orange county percussion(OCP). They re cut the baring edges to give it a more modern attack and the internal baffles have been removed. If you are old like me you will remember the floating baffles they had in the drums. The other kit I play is a special addition 25th anniversary 5 pc kit in mother of pearl. My jazz kit is a red sparkle Slingerland 4 pc I loved that kit but it wasn't good for playing punk and I am no good at playing Jazz. So I had to sell it. Along with my Gretsch kit. I had many other kits including Tama Yamaha,Pearl,DW,Ludwig. but those are my favorites. I think it would like to try a set of the ludwig Acralites. I have never had one of those sets. I never play anymore so I should sell the drums I have. |

wow! surprised that so many of us like to beat on the skins....
I've basically played in four or five bands for fun that never really went anywhere. I think I've played six or seven shows in the past 5 or 6 years. Most of my drumkit is currently stored in my car (rarely drive the thing), except for my bass pedals, toms, and my snare. pointless post I know, but I'm impressed by the number of drummers on here. |
