My cousin teaches kids like this, with learning disabilities and says she comes across things all the time. Attacking her and slamming her over a table, breaking the table...crazy stories. She has to go to self defense classes to protect herself from these kids. She would always blame their actions on the parents, no discipline what so ever. Pretty sad.

Ultimately the parents. It's rather interesting how some blame violent video games or T.V. shows....hmmmmm who is letting them play and watch this stuff? I heard about these kids on ESPN radio this morning that enjoy watching the Simpsons so they can pull the same tricks on their parents. The parents were questioning why their kids are disrespecting them? Unbelievable.....

My wife is a School Psychologist for a school district in OC and if I had a nickel for every story I heard that involved bitting, hitting, and or some other form of violence we would be rich!

The kids you refer to are likely in Emotionally Disturbed (ED) classes. They probably have learning disabilities, too, but have other mental problems that result in their violent behavior.

Most students with "learning disabilities" are fine in the behavior department. Just thought I'd clarify those two things (I'm a teacher, forgive me).

Yes. Every year for the last 6 years.

They are not behavior problems. In fact, they are usually really quiet (they space out ALLLLLLLLL the time though).

I should clarify that I teach high school and many of my ADHD students are on meds.

Plus, don't you remember how boring chemistry was?!?

Teachers...the thankless job. I feel bad for the teachers of the California public school system. I mean I know they get all the time off in the world but when it come to voting for anything I vote for teachers and education. I try to stay away from Fire Dept and Police because I know what those guys do with our tax money and they make great money for not having a degree.

She did teach kids that were emotionally disturbed, sorry didn't clarify, it was a couple of year ago, i believe they were 4th-6th graders. Now she is teaching 6th-8th graders with learning disablities and would never change jobs, she loves teaching those kids

You are talking to a border line geek because I actually took AP Chem and Bio my last few years. Yeah, my GF's son has ADHD so he is a total 180 on meds but off meds try getting him to read or do homework. It's a nightmare.

+1. Most ADD/ADHD kids I have met are really smart. It's their impulsiveness that derails them.

The teacher once called my Mom saying she thought that I had a learning disability. My Mom just said "No Dave is just lazy"

God bless her.
