I don know about you guys up north, but the REI used gear sale is tomorrow for the San Diego stores.

I always tend to forget about it, and drink to much the night before to facilitate the needed early morning wake up.

I have got there early and got some killer deals on packs, tents etc. But on the flip side I have got there late and had to pass on the huge selection of broken trekking polls and tiny shoes that always seem to be left over.

word to the wise: show up EARLY.

2nd word: if they're doing it, watch out for stuff inside the store with .83 cents on the price tag- you'll get an additional 50% off at the register. the price is usually inked in w/ red pen. this is only during specific sales during the year.

I have been too a few a different locations for the sale. The one in San Diego and the one in Chula Vista.

The Chula Vista was the first one they had at that location. It was a let down, not much stuff, but not to many people. There was only one other guy at 9am waiting.

The one at the San Diego REI is pretty crazy. There are people that get there at 4am and sit at the front of the line. The line gets huge and snakes to the back of the parking lot, and there is a rush to get in the sale.

I get there around 7:30 - 8:00 and have good luck getting what I want. It helps to know what your looking for before the sale starts.

Think of those crazy wedding dress sales, except instead wedding dresses, you have hard shells and tents flying around.

i was at REI at northridge and the girl at the register said it was return items that were being sold. if this is right, can't you just get someone to buy the item and return it. then you can buy it at the super mega discounted price?

i dont know. its late. random thoughts popping up in my head. just curious.

I used to work there, man did they push us to sell the co-op thing. But it is a good deal, made me feel like a broken record though.I got killer pro deals when I worked there.MSR stove,Iso mat,northface tent and pack, water purifier and a climbing harness for 75 bucks.The MSR rep came out to explain the new products and good deals were to be had.
