It looks like you have to be 18 to get a credit card. Stupid age restrictions.
Being young kinda sucks And with a debit card i'd be too tempted to spend all my money. with a credit card i would have more self control but oh well.. my parents said maybe this weekend i can go to open an account im kinda excited haha

When I was 16, I cosigned with my parents to get a credit card. It had a $200 limit. It helped me get my credit up and going. I'm 26 now, but for the last 6 years, I've been able to get top tier credit for anything I wanted. I've heard they've changed recently on how they tie cosigned credit into your FICO score. I'd open one as soon as you can anyway. Another tip, if you don't trust yourself to have control, you can actually call them to LOWER your limit. LOL.

I'm going to go out on a limb and risk sounding like a preachy old guy. It's what I do. Ask yourself if there is a GOOD reason for you to have a credit card. If there is no compelling reason to do so, don't. We won't even talk about debit cards, they're a bad idea all the way around. No one should have one. A couple days ago you mentioned opening a bank account. THAT is what you should do. Put every spare dime that you can into the bank--and leave it there. That money should be for serious stuff, like going to college or buying a house. Both those things take a lot of money and you have to start saving for it sometime. Something else to think about: the newest, trickest bike parts. Don't fork over all your cash to the guy behind the counter at the bike store (sorry bike store guys). If you and I both had the latest, lightest bikes featured in the magazines, there are people reading this who could ride old clunkers and still kick our butts. Learn to ride what you have well. In the end, scheming for ways to save money will serve you better than figuring out ways to spend money. |

Don't buy bike parts on credit if you can't pay off the balance.
By the time you do pay off the balance the part will be won out or broken or the new bling will come out |
