Good pizza. Bad beer. I love the pizza, but every time I go, I'm disappointed with with the beer. The pale ale should be called light brown water. I've actually sent beer back there a few times. No offense. Just my humble opinion.

Overall a great place for beer and pizza, though some BJ's locations are better than others. I always seem to be disappointed with the Monrovia location. Brea is good though. Woodland Hills is amazing since they actually brew at that site and always have good one-offs on tap.
All of them need to improve their wait staff's beer knowledge considering they are a brewery. Most of the time I get a waiter who doesn't even know what seasonal beers they have on tap. Plus, no matter what kind of beer you like, they always recommend the Jeremiah Red. Not a bad recommendation at all, but come on, it doesn't pair with every meal on the menu. I too have sent beer back that is not served properly or is spoiled. This has only happened at Monrovia though. Their pizookie is heavenly.

Their porter is roasty-tasty, much better than many off-the-shelf porters. Their pale ale is hoppy and very good. Their cuisine is adequate. Despite these good qualities, the Brea location is BLOODY LOUD. They turn up the music to stupid levels, so if anyone wants to talk, they have to scream. The resulting cacophony seriously diminishes from the dining experience. We stopped going there and will not return.

Pizookie's are the best, but I don't eat those very often (I had a bite when we went for Steph's bday!).
I like to mix my beers (sorry guys ) so their Chocolate Raspberry cider blend is awesome!! Porter mixed with the Framboise. Soo good.I get their bbq beef sandwich with veggies instead of fries. The weird thing is sometimes the veggies are soaked in butter, sometimes plain. I prefer the plain, but there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason! |

It's too bad too because that was one of the few locations that they actually brew at anymore too, and after a few pretty lean years they had a steady brewer and were getting better and making some decent small-batch stuff too. These days i go to Taps - waaaay better food, excellent beer, and they're right up the street at Imperial and Brea. ![]()

BJ's has become a staple in our diet. Neither of us drink beer but we love the food. For appetizers, they have a great Chicken lettuce wrap & delicious Avocado Egg Rolls. For Entrees, I usually get the BBQ Chicken salad and replace the dressing with BBQ sauce. Their Meatloaf is great as well as their Halibut fish Tacos and their Blonde Ale battered Fish 'N Chips. Of course, you can't go wrong with their Chicago style deep dish pizzas. Too greasy for my taste but good never the less.
Ironically (Sam), I primarily only go to the one in Monrovia and have never had a problem with quality nor service. I've been to other BJ's locations (including the one in Woodland Hills) but have never noticed a difference. Then again, I don't drink beer so maybe there's the problem. ![]() If you're into deserts, there's no way you can pass-up their signature Pazookie. It's to die for!

My wife works a block from BJ's in Woodland Hills. We used to go there at least two time a week for launch. Great food.
