I know someone will refute me on this but...
Many people don't know that the Bible if full of vulgarity (depending on translation) and just all around F__cked up stuff. I'm not saying it's good or bad. It's just there, in the Bible.

The language used in the original Greek and Hebrew was even more harsh than as translated in the King James or the more modern NIV standard.

Some examples:

Ezekiel 23:19-21
Genesis 19:32
Psalm 137:9
Malachi 2:3 some translations say dung, some say "refuse" or sh!t in the orginal Hebrew translations.

2 Kings 18:27

Numbers 31:17-18

Just Google any one of those verses.

Man, I need to stop posting this stuff. Someone's gonna get really pissed.

That's ok cause we are given opportunities all the time to spread the gospel to whomever God may put in front of us.
I believe in beer too, I just don't get drunk like I used to before I was Christian. I am always glad to share my testimony, ask me anytime. God bless.

I'm aware that there is intentional vulgarity in the scriptures, but I assure you that it's not included there to offend the sensibilities of people who are just trying to celebrate a religious holiday. Back off. Seriously.

context, context, context. Stinkyrider has stinking thinking. That's where the verse "do not cast pearls before swines" would come in. There is no point even debating him, but makes for a great thread, eh?

Ok, I'm done.
Further debate and scripture quoting will get nobody, nowhere.
Wars have been fought over this type of thing in history past.
I'm retiring from this thread.

Lemme get this straight. You are offended by someone posting scripture verses? I don't understand your reasoning.

I hope you enjoyed celebrating Easter with your family as much as I did with mine.

I respectfully disagree.

When people who aren't Christians speak that way that is called normal in my book.

I'm only offended when people who ARE believers in Christ as Savior use trashy language or act in a way contrary to the example of Jesus. They are disdaining that which was purchased for them, redemption.

For those who don't believe, I have no reason to be offended. As a believer in Christ as God/Savior, I am called to act and talk as he would and to tell others of the "good news" that He died for sinners. They are not. If one doesn't recognize Jesus as God/Savior, why would they seek to please or imitate Him?

For someone who doesn't believe, they are not held to the same standard, since they don't believe.

Actually there's only one instance in the Bible about that , it's simply referred to 3 times by 3 different Gospel writers Matthew 12, Mark 3 and Luke 12.

Blaspheming of the Holy Spirit was spoken of by Jesus in reference to the religious leaders of the day (Pharisees) who claimed Jesus' power to heal, raise from the dead, etc was from Satan rather from God. That was the unforgivable sin.

In Luke 5:32, Jesus lays out quite simply that: "I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent."

Romans 5:8 "But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners."

What the Bible says is:
Sinners act like sinners who sin.
All of us are sinners.
If we recognize we're sinners and give up, recognizing a need for forgiveness, believe that Jesus is God and died for our sins, then God will forgive us entirely and make us new people.
Now, go live for Him by acting like Him and loving other people like Him....so stop talking trashy now.

Or laugh...alot.

So you are saying the word "sh!t" is a Hebrew word?

p.s. when you call human feces "poo" that isn't vulgarity, it's just a noun.

The Bible uses harsh words to describe harsh/evil things. There is nothing to expose or defend.

easter: a time of year for families to drink too much and get on each other's nerves.

(sorry- a little bitter- easter service was better than usual, good message and all, but the holiday gatherings and meals left me bent)

I'm convinced easter is the day to throw trash all over the place and leave it for park employees to clean up. We must've spent 4 hours this morning just cleaning up bags of trash, trash strewn across every piece of grass and smashing down the trash in the dumpsters so we could put more trash in them. Whew...who knew an Easter gathering could get so messy!

There are thousands of languages in the world. Vulgarity is relative. The sensibilities of Christians may have been offended, but did anyone consider the sensibilities of non-Christians who may have been offended by the original post? Everybody has a right to an opinion and to publish it in the public domain. Two quotes for everyone:

"Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." - John 8:7

"Although I do not agree with what you say, I will defend to the death your right to say it." - Voltaire

I didn't say he didn't have the right to say it; I said that in my opinion (which I'm entitled to, right?), it didn't really belong in this thread. He agreed to leave it at that (and even gave me a "Thanks"), so as far as I'm concerned, he and I are cool. I don't feel like there's anything else constructive that can come out of this, so I'm done with it too.
