Do you still watch the boat races at Ming?
My buddy used to race his flattie at Ming, we would help him out in the pits.

Who is your buddy? Here is a pic of me making the 1,320' dash at Ming. I don't race anything now but make parts for a lot of the racers. The NJBA is doing a fund rasier out at Irvine Lake that should be pretty cool. We are setting up a booth there.

I hear he can be spoted at Camp Far West from time to time with Smalls aka "the tick". lol
I don't know anything about boats, but my friend's family owns Schaida boats, very nice people.

Jeff's one of the best! Flat Nasty is the only Pro Gas Flat to ever dip in the 6's! Tell him Dave Bottomley said hi.

BTW, I used to save my Flat Nasty T shirts so I could wear then when I knew I was going to be around my pal Tony Scarlata. That always used to get a rise out of Tony. I've long wore those out. I'd love to get a new one so I could profile it at the next K boat deal. lol

That's too funny. You may know his cousin Joe Martin, always talking smack. Joe is on this forum as JMART233.

Any dragboat fan and drag race fan knows who Eddie Hill is. He had the fastest top fuel hydro for years and years named "The Texan". Then he hung that up and started racing a top fuel dragster. In no time he had both the fastest fuel hydro and fastest fuel dragster at the same time! 229mph in an open cockpit boat is beyond stout!!
He was also the first person to go 1/4 mile distance from a dead stop in less then 5 seconds in ANYTHING.

I moved to So Cal because I wanted to race drag boats (and skateboard all winter). The first thing I did was go to Lake Ming up by Bakersfield as I had always heard of it (home of dragboat racing). So over at the v drive forum on performanceboats.com this guy signs up as FourFather (first in the 4's) and it's non other then the great Eddie Hill!! How cool is that?? The best thing is he is just a super nice guy and totally down to earth.

http://www.performanceboats.com/html...ead.php?t=5321

So, who else has a hero that posts online (other then Dino Brown of course)??
Eddie Hill was/is a cool guy....my family used to race TFH (well my dad did) We ran Final Effort...the late Tom Black was my dads partner and driver...he used to run a top fuel flat (Explosion) at Ming...

Eddies wife was HOT too...

You know I saw that screen name and wondered if it was him. Then thought, naw can't be. I have never met Joe before but have read many of his posts. lol I was the first mod in the v drive forum on HB. I'm sure I had his IP # noted.

Shu, that might be one of the only boats he hasn't raced. So you must be Gordon Padgett's son then. Tom Black is another hero. That must have been something growing up with all of that.
