Anything is possible, but Gasol rolling his ankle tonight took some of the shine off this one. Houston doesn't seem to be missing Yao too much, but the Lakers seem to need Gasol to make things work well.
Since Gasol has become the # 2 threat, Odom has been much more dangerous without the pressure of being the next go-to after Kobe. This is a reminder of how a season's high hopes can all go down the toi-toi with an untimely injury. It'll be fun to see how the Lakers react to this latest setback. Houston has impressed me since it happened to them. I really want to see all these teams in the west get healthy and then go to war. This could be one of the best playoff seasons in history. If you had told me one year ago that the Lakers and Celtics would absolutely be among the elite teams this season, I would have sent you for a head examination, but here we are and I love it. |
