Default weird assignment with work re: Edge 305

I work for a law firm that represents various cities. One of which is Pomona. Two attorney's just walked up to me in my cubicle asking me if I had a GPS (they know I bike).

After the weird conversation that came after that, I find out they want me to use it to track various bus stops in the city.

i.e. I drive around with it in my car on certain routes and mark where each stop is

oddly enough I brought it in to work today to play with it and the software, but doing much more than the basics will through me for a spin.

Sounds like a fun task. You can just hit the lap button everytime you see a bus stop.

Once you get back to the office, you can export to Google Earth somehow (maybe through Sport Tracks), and then label where each lap started.

Dude, you can bill them for time on your GPS. I say you give them a bargain at $50 per bus stop.

If not, you could probably deduct it from your taxes as an unreimbursed business expense.

that was my first instinct, but I wondered if there was an easier way.

Apparently this is for a sex offender ordinance, they're trying to keep sex offenders 300ft away from bus stops (children use the bus was the argument). So needless to say, i'll be taking the good chunk of the day trying to find every bus stop in Pomona.

Here's another way.

http://www.foothilltransit.org/Sched...ap2.htm#pomona

Click on the transit lines and you'll get a map of each stop

I have a good friend who works in the city of Pomona planning department if you need some help. PM me if you want his info.

Can't we just move them all out to Barstow or Baker or something where NO ONE is around?

Maybe give them one of the uninhabited channel islands? Molester island?

unfortunately those don't show the stops in between every time stop. For example between stop A and B, there's probably 2-3 more stops on smaller intersections.

Brewmaster, we're the city attorney's here and Pomona is our biggest client. We practically work out of city hall there, so I can only assume we've checked with the planning dept before they send me out.

anywho, would hitting the Lap button every stop be the easiest way?

thanks for the work, but between each marked stop (A,B,C) there's usually a couple more stops that aren't marked. Those that are marked are only there for time purposes.

I need to find EVERY bus stop in the city, and short of riding every bus route, I see no other way. Estimates put the number of bus stops into the 300's

Even though i got this for you.. i still say you use it as an excuse to "drive around looking for bus stops"
if you live close enough.. grab your bike and go for a quick ride if you can.. hhaha

oops jsut read your post..
well now you know the lines so just follow the lines from the map and youll see all the stops..

Hey david, quit yer whining and look at it as an excuse to get the hell away from your desk. Stop and enjoy yourself along the route. "Oh look! there's a Pinkberry and I just happen to have a hankering for something sweet." Or "Ooh. Barnes and Noble. I'll bet they have the latest issue of Mountain Bike Action." Or perhaps, "Wow. Would you look at that. That Mobil station is charging 3.89 for their cheapest gas. That is outrageous. That George Bush can't be gone soon enough for my liking. Lucky for me, my Boss just paid to fill up my tank! I am one lucky fella!" Now go get 'em Tiger!

Too much of a hassle with the 305. Tell the lawyers you need a better GPS unit like the Garmin Colorado 400t.

P.S. You should ride the bus.

P.P.S. If you use the 305 the proper way to mark locations is Mode button->Navigation->Mark Location etc.
