Default Green Dealership??

What do you think about a car dealership building a certified dealership and spending $3 billion in new fuel technology to improve fuel efficiency?

Who certifies it?

Please explain this technology.

Yeah, what are you talking about? $3 billion isn't the kind of money most car dealerships have access to.

It could be financed, but you would have to sell a hell of a lot of cars to recoup the sunk investment.

??!?!? That was random. Fluffy nugs in your recent past?

Maybe you mean a car manufacturer? Perhaps the new BMW Hydrogen 7? I think Mazda is making a hydrogen car too.

It's too early, hybrid cars are only just now becoming more common yet alone alternative fuel cars.

not too familiar with the greening process but aware there are more that a few consultants out there they help business develop blgs that meet certain green stads and I believe certain benefits come fomt it (maybe tax, etc). irrespective $3 is a huuuuuge number for a dealership. imagine this number may be for oem or a huge corp rollup autonation/power but still hard to imaigine for any dealership.please post mo info

Not knowing the specifics and going on just what is posted my knee jerk reaction is that the $amount may be a misprint.

There is currently a national program that has about $30-40 million in grant money and is trying to line-up matching money from private sector. It's a huge deal for plug-in hybrids and it involves very large companies and would cover a wide range of the western USA, including SoCal. So it's hard for me to picture someone spending or even having access to $3 billion from a dealership.

Yes, Mazda is working on a Hydrogen RX-8 and possibly a RX-7. I'm not exactly sure what the original post means but it sounds more like 3 billion for an alternative fuel infrastructure. Cars that require natural gas, hydrogen, water (yes plain water), and even fry oil is a pain to constantly refuel without proper infrastructure.

What's really interesting is the trendy hop to hybrids. If you really calculate the cost of a hybrid plus the cost of replacing the batteries it really doesn't offset the cost of fuel savings. Heck, carpool stickers are no longer available in CA and the tax break is minimal at best. You are better off driving something like a Civic, Scion, or any small size car.

Chrysler is not a dealership. They are an auto manufacturer. That article says nothing about $3 billion.

if read it correctly ONE chrysler dealer is going green and the oem (chrysler) has plans to incent other dealers in their network to go green as well. doesn't mean they will/wont but did not see reference of $3b?
